/Rant ON

So I spent 2 hours running around with my monk collecting 9 items, and 8 hours camping the hornets with no drop... so...

10 hours of my time spent to *not quite* get a potion that gives double experience for 5 hours...

What a collosal waste of my time!

I promptly mem'd knowledge portal with my druid and deleted the collection bag.

Sorry to hear that, I completed my potion quest in under 30 minutes total from start to end, every drop was from first or second kill.

You oughta play WoW. If you camp in an inn and come back the next day, you get double the exp for a while. And if you stay away for about a week, then you get double exp for several hours, especially at higher levels. It's wonderful and you don't have to waste away precious hours of your life for something that goes away while you're sitting in the Bazaar or looking for a group.

I don't believe it to be remedial. They (Blizzard) realizes there game isn't that hard to go solo to 60 in. So therefore they don't see leveling as party of their long term staying power in the market. So if that's their strategy why wouldnt' they help the ppl who don't play as much. In the end it's still a skill based game. You can be a moron in EQ up to 70, but in WoW grouping, the morons seem to get sorted out quicker (in my experience at least).

It's the complete opposite imo.

As you said, the game isn't that hard to go solo to 60 in. There are loads and loads of lvl 60 people with absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about grouping. You'll never see that in EQ.

obviously you are doing something wrong, perhaps looking in the rigth zone will help, or maybe killing the right hornets. there must be an explanation how you could spend 8 HOURS camping 1 piece, where EVERYONE else on server was able to complete the full quest in under 2 hours

Right I agree that there are a good number of idiots who soloed to 60.. however.. anyone that groups at 60 better be worth their salt... they need to be.. wow is faster paced... where as in eq (being a somewhat slower game, not as much since GoD+ though) you can get away with sucking @ grouping for longer.

I was referring to the GoD+ grouping. You won't make it far in a group if you suck in those expansions. And unless you're one of a few classes that are good at soloing, you need a group to get to 70. Sure, there might be a few people at 70 who still suck in groups, but they're nowhere near as many as in WoW.

Anyone can reach max level in any of these games without being particularly skilled. It really isn't rocket science. That said, if you want to do truly exceptional things in any game it takes more skill than you can acquire grinding along the walls in Overthere/Dreadlands/Walls of Slaughter/etc...

I went from 35-47 on gnome guards back in EQ, all solo. If that tells you anything. Three days of sitting AFk sans pet in minotaur cave and I was max gnome ally faction. The guards still didnt like me though.
