Finally did get Fable.. and wow
best way to describe this game... "Watered Down Final Fantasy"
Took me under 8 hours to annihilate this game. This game is simply lacking content. And the combat system is horrendous... there is no way that anyone could die in this game.. ever. I never had to buy a single potion or meat, I just used everything I found, and that lasted me. The lack of armor / weapon choices was appaling. Diablo 1 had more item choices.
I just can't begin to say how disappointed I am in this game. The game just had no content at all. I'm just boggled how these people could make an 8 hour game and put it on the shelves for sale. It seems like the first part of a three part trilogy (in the same game).
Anyone else feel like this?

I havn't played the game but I'm hearing similar complaints about content from friends who have. The graphics looked pretty cool from what I've seen though. It's too bad they couldn't balance it out more.

I bought the game, tried it out, and promptly returned it to EB where I exchanged it for COD: United Offensive and my preorder on the WoW CE.
The game was ass, and amply demonstrates just how far up their asses those gaming mag editors have managed to cram their heads.

Best PC RPG that I've played that's also on the XBox is Beyond Good & Evil. Amazing really. It never got the attention it deserved.
I'd say get it on the PC though. Better graphics and framerate.

My brother keeps trying to get me to quit EQ for awhile and play Marrowind on the X-box he swears up and down that it's the best RPG yet. If you look at the fallacys of older games like balders gate which allowed you to get to lvl 6 or 7 max before you beat it and then later RPG's like Neverwinters nights that allowed you to get to the lvl of 20 max Marrowind allows you to get to lvl 100 I think it was with the expansion.
Another factor is if you do alot of the subquests theres over 100 hrs of gameplay but if you want to go through and just beat the game it can be done in 40-50 hrs. This game also allows you to make your own poisons if you become a thief or an assassin which is nice...you can research your own spells and actually make spells that do 3 things with the casting of one spell. Lets say your tired of getting poisoned, petrified and slowed. You can make a spell that nullifies all 3 of those effects. Anyways my brother chatted my ear off about this game for over an hr the other day so it seems to have it's merits.

On the D&D trip, there is Dark Aliance 1 and 2. I've beaten both games a couple of times, and still like to play them. Both are evil in that once you beat them the first time, they start you out over again, with naught but the utilitarian clothing you're shown in and you get to beat the game again, with HARDER mobs. Makes for fun, when you get swarmed under by a room-full of rats.
KOTOR 1 and 2 are fun games. I spent about 15 hours on KOTOR 2 and got 3/4 of the way done, so hopefully you'll like variations on a theme (good/bad, multiple classes to play).

The number of levels you can attain in a game is not a measure of it's depth or quality. If it takes 10 hours per level in a 7 level game, and 15 minutes per level in a 100 level game which is better? The longer one? The one with more levels?
It's spelled Morrowind too.

hmmm
the one with higher level caps is automatically better. Being lvl 7 at the end of a game.. is.. well stupid.

So, let's say we're playing a game where you accumulate skill points to buy things. The average cost of these things is 10 points. Is it more fun to play a game that allows for 10 levels and you get 10 skill points per level, or 100 levels where you get 1 point per level? Does it matter if the end result is the same? Is it more fun to gain a level and see an immediate increase in skills or the have to gain 10 levels before you get more powerful?

How much fun is Morrowind compared to a game like EQ? One of my friends told me it was basically like EQ offline, but I'd rather take that from someone who's played both games. I am thinking about buying it. <shrug>

Morrowind is ALOT of fun in my opinion. its a huge and very open game. You can achieve many goals in any way you want, and in the upper levels you can pretty much take on any atribute you want, and you can make your own spells/magic items. Its not cheap to do these things tho so it isnt really that unbalancing. it can be a rediculously easy game or rediculousy hard depending on what approach you take to events/encounters. You should at least try it. Dont read any walkthroughs and set the game on hardest difficulty to get the most out of it. (And save often)

Look at the spell fireball that you can acquire in a limited level game like Baldurs Gate. (Still a great game btw) to a spell like fireball alll you get is that one spell Fireball. Now look at Morrowind where you first learn minor fireball then later greater fireball and then further still some crazy name like ultrafireball. With each increment your blast radius gets bigger till at the third lvl it fucking nukes the whole screen and the blast radius is fucking up everyone. Thats the difference between a lvl 6 fag fireball and a Morrowind spell. I think to lvl just to the point of being barely more than ordinary is limited compared to a game where your character starts out as a wimp and by the end can be godlike. Show me the money....Bitch show me the fireball!!!Bahd Zoolander wrote:The number of levels you can attain in a game is not a measure of it's depth or quality. Re:
I'm playing Morrowind again. I never get very far before I get into something else, but the gameworld is VERY large and well made. Combat's interesting, moving quickly is a bit frustrating. Spells/Potions are DAMN good. OTOH, by the time I walk from one city to another, I think I've looted every plant around, so soil erosion might be a problem.
