Illiterate Morons

People like this annoy me excessively. Proper English (even vaguely proper English) allows you to communicate with other people. It's morons like this that have mastered the art of making noise but haven't yet gathered the collective brain cells to work together and realize that the whole point of making noises is for someone else to hear and comprehend what you are trying to say.

You learn English in school so you can make yourself understood. Morons like this who think people don't care that you are at least legible and then make weak excuses about not being in school any more and follow it up with their disability and poor childhood sob stories are just worthless disturbances in the gene pool.

You know what? On the internet and especially on message boards everyone gets a clean slate. What you do with it is your business but you'll find very little sympathy for begging not to be judged on your communication skills. The amusing thing is that in his final "sentence" he is far closer to the truth than he probably realizes. Not everyone is perfect, but at least some of us try to get as close as we can and refuse to wallow in illiterate uneducated indignation when someone accurately points out that you have the absolute inability to communicate on a messageboard.

I just don't understand why people can't spell on a computer. 90% of people have Microsoft Word installed on their machines, and I'm sure there's an online spell checker readily available for people who don't have it.

Why not just try? It doesn't matter if you decide to be a nice guy or a jackass, but at least have the common courtesy to be legibile.

I know my spelling sucks ass. that's why I use a spell checker for most of my posts.

I hear ya Embar. I'm always worried about more people going to college than ever (assuming they graduate), because the world needs sanitation engineers damnit!
I honestly wonder how the world would work if everyone was educated. Who would be the garbageman? would cum laude grads become the new blue collar? scary stuff to us lazy people...

People who use ADHD as an excuse for acting retarded bother me even more, Ddrak.

I was sitting in class one day a few terms back when the instructor passed out three pages total of The Elements by Euclid. It was a history of science course. One guy somewhere behind me pipes up and says, "I can't read this it has too many numbers." I wanted to laugh but quickly realized this person was dead serious. He then said "I have ADD I can't read it." To which I really wanted to respond "No, that's dyslexia and you're a dipshit."

I remember working at a hotel as a night auditor for about a year when I first started attending college. Every night I had to read memos and front desk logs which was fine, but the thing that killed me is that my boss could not use there, their, they're properly. Or appeared to know the difference between to and too. Arg.

I also worked at one place where I got into an argument with the operations manager over the words 'daydream' and 'nametag' which she insisted were two words. She had flunked out of college and was proud of it. She made sure to remind me literally every day that I was working there that I was her boss and she didn't go to college, so 'living in my head' as she said, wasn't important at all.

I found out later after I'd left that she had been fired.

Personal rant aside, if anybody does want to improve their writing in I'd recomend The Elements of Style. It will help anybody polish their writing up.

Sucked to give up the scholarship, but paying a little more then to get paid tons more when I get a real job was well worth it hehe.

i'm just so used to typing without shift. i dont capitolize or put ' where it should go all the time, but at least i am legeble unless i'm trying to type a word i dont use so much like legeble and completely fuck up the spelling. but hey without errors what would the grammar nazis and trolls use to fight back?

Fucked up text is the equivalent of a speech impediment.

BTW, I've overcome dyslexia through some hardcore bootcamp training back in the NYC public schools in the '60s. It sucked, but it worked. (They'd have me sit and work on my penmanship with old-fashioned nib pen and inkwell, in practice books from the 1920s, for hours at a time.)

The same school system got rid of my lisp and stutter to the point where I speak publically professionally, but either can come back if I think about them too much or get really drunk.

Back then, the thinking wasn't "Aw, the poor kid has a disability, let's cotton to him," it was "This kid talks and writes funny. Fix him."
