Here we go again...Dragons of Norrath EQ expansion

Post by Riggen »

Fun fun fun...

http://everquest.station.sony.com/drago ... atures.jsp

...sounds like they'll be reengineerings some zones and taking a few pages from the Blizzard playbook with things like a new world map, potion belt, and multiple weapon configurations. The barter system sounds interesting.

The blurb suggests that there will be new adventuring content for players of all levels, but given their similar Planes of Power spiel I do have to wonder just how much there will be for the pre-65 to 70 crowd. We'll know soon enough I guess.

You mean being able to go to a zone and take a boat to somewhere you will instantly die isn't adventuring content?

The mass corpse summoning altar has much screen shot potential.

not enough to want to bring me back, it's too little too late. Something like this guild hall thing could have been implemented from the beginning, or at LEAST by PoP era.

Taking a few pages from Blizzard makes Blizzard look better and better ni my eyes heh

I'm glad I went to EQ 2.

This made me laugh, they're basically taking a bunch of WoW features as enticement to sell their next shitty expansion.

Guild 'Looking for Members' Tool - Allows guilds to recruit by placing persistent “ads” on bulletin boards, search for player characters who match guild criteria and send in-game emails to those members.
I wonder if they will be implementing an in-game "e-mail" message system for players as well.

To be fair, much of the stuff in WoW came from other games too. There's only so much originality left you know.

I admit it I'm a glutton for punishment. I'll dutifully preorder and play the new expansion, even though WoW continues to draw me in further every day.

Don't do it Riggen. It's an odd numbered expansion. What held for Star Trek movies also holds for EQ expansions.

That reminds me about one of the bugs with PoP. Weren't a lot of people losing levels and AAs shortly after it's implimentation? Or was that LoY? God there's been so many expansions and bugs associated with them that I can't keep it all straight anymore....

It was probably PoP since I was still playing at the time when it happened.

It happened on two different expansions. That's how special the Sony programmers are.

In both cases, for some reason those were people who preordered the game, then had billing problems (whether mistakes or not). Their accounts were reset so they no longer had the expansion, and they lost the levels from the new expansion.

Moral: Don't ever preorder. It also makes reinstalling on a new pute a bigger patch.

Oh, one thing SOE could do for preorders: Since the whole game is account key driven anyway, allow downloaders a "burn expansion to CDs" option.

Just keep a backup of your Everquest directory. It doesn't actually need to be installed - xcopy works fine to move it from one computer to another. Hell - you can even xcopy a friend's.

I don't think I've touched the install CD since 2001 over at least 3 iterations of new computers.

So they could hold your hand and nerf any thing you ever accomplished? No thanks.
