That's the part that really pisses me off. You know, if you look at the Quiverfull movement - which they do not claim as their philosophy, but their beliefs perfectly align with it, and that movement itself praises the Duggars of great representatives of it - you can see that women are pretty much subservient property of the husbands. It's a very rigid male hierarchy. They can't use contraception, and they can't ever deny their husbands sex, no matter how they feel, if they are in the mood etc.

Anyway, with that kind of shitty power dynamic, the young girls are probably second-class citizens in the family. It's pretty clear they are with the Duggars, since they treat the son as if he's the poor victim, and don't even bother to give lip service to what the girls went through.
