You've all probably heard about it by now. Groups of primarily black teens single out a victim at random and try to knock out the victim with one punch. Some people are advocating to classify this as a hate crime, since the majority of attacks are blacks on non-blacks. Me, I think each case has to be evaluated on its merits. If the evidence shows a group of black teens targeted non-black victims, then yes, hate crime. If not, and they truly were random victims, then some form of assault charge would apply.

The perpetrators are often described as ethically challenged teenagers
???? Ethically challenged teenagers? What is that? C'mon. These are punks, thugs, shitbirds, etc. They aren't confused individuals pondering the deeper meaning of how they fit into society, and their responsibilities towards it. They are young adults who know better, which is why they run after each attack.
I do like the report though of the tough guy who tried to knock out a person with a conceal-carry, and got shot for his trouble. He ended up begging for his life on his knees.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.
