Seymour Hersh on American Journalism

Harsh!

Our job is to find out ourselves, our job is not just to say – here's a debate' our job is to go beyond the debate and find out who's right and who's wrong about issues. That doesn't happen enough. It costs money, it costs time, it jeopardises, it raises risks. There are some people – the New York Times still has investigative journalists but they do much more of carrying water for the president than I ever thought they would … it's like you don't dare be an outsider any more.

"Do you think Obama's been judged by any rational standards? Has Guantanamo closed?
1) A little bit of 'research' would tell Hersh the answer to his question, and that ain't on Obama. Methinks he carries a bit of a torch for Snowden if he's seriously complaining that the Obama administration is worse than the Bush one in the way it treats journalists.
Well, it’s the Super-Monroe Doctrine: “Get off our oil, people who dress funny!” - M. Bouffant

"You're a bad captain, Zarde. People like you only learn by being touched, and hard. And you will greatly disapprove of where these men put their hands." - M. Vanderbeam.
