Yuckkkk! The "false summits" he hits are kinda funny. "Surely this is the top, but it's only the middle of the video.. oh nope there is more." I bet his arms are pretty ripped.

Used to do this when I was younger. Radio towers. Did a 366 footer once. The video doesn't really do it justice. When you get up around 150+ the wind is making that tower sway like you wouldn't believe. At the top it feels like it's going to snap any second. Amazing rush

Re: Climbing a tower
You unclipped like that, Minute?
Is it anywhere near as precarious as it looks on camera, or is it really no different to climbing a regular ladder, just a bazillion feet in the air?

Re: Climbing a tower
Yeah we never used any sort of safety anything. Just some of the stupid shit I did as a young idiot. We hit every radio tower in the area at least once one summer. Got caught once, but it was only a $50 trespassing fine. Most of them were ladders until you got to the top which was a little roundish platform. Then if you wanted to go higher, you had to go outside the middle & use the bars. You can't get to like the point because the top is generally like floppy antenna, but at the every top it's just basically 4 bars making a square & you're there with your feet interlocked shitting yourself. I never did the thing like those Russian kids were doing where you go out & do pullups. DatShitCrayDdrak wrote:You unclipped like that, Minute?

And yeah it is physically taxing. The ladder climb might not seem so, but it's a long way & when you get high & the thing is swaying you're constantly having to hold very tight to balance yourself. Nothing like shimmying up on top of your house. You stop & take small breaks at the various platforms.
I'm a bit of an adrenaline junky, but looking back & knowing that 1 slip would have most likely resulted in death.... Kids are stupid
