I have to say, Norway's reaction to the killings has been impressive.

Norway has surprised foreign observers I have spoken to, and maybe even ourselves, in that we instead have managed to take a step back. Through careful reflection proving that there are other ways of maintaining order than merely through more rules and regulations. That increasing the social trust, in a society that already enjoys amongst the highest levels of social trust in the world, is a more rewarding option.

Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly have been absolutely ridiculous about this whole thing. Their responses are such embarrassments.

I listened to a talk radio show where they read the back and forth texts between a mother and her daughter while the gunman was executing the children. Absolutely harrowing, I can't begin to imagine the horror and disbeleif that the mother and daughter went through. When a mother tests to her daughter "send us a signal every 5 minutes to let us know you are still alive"... good god. Those were probably the longest 5 minutes in both of their lives.
