Waters prevented the release of the Statement of Allegations by informing the committee she'll go to trial over her alleged ethics violations. Two black Democrats on trial at nearly the same time, both around the time of the elections. The Dems just keeping giving bullets to the Reps to use against them in the elections. Both these people put their positions above the good of the party. I refrain from using the word jobs, because that implies politics is a career choice, not an opportunity to serve the nation. But sadly, too many elected representatives see their position as a god-given right, and have lost (if they ever had it) the sense of service to the American people.
Anyway... should be interesting to see how this shakes out. Wonder if Obama will send messages to Waters to resign, as he did Rangel (personally, I don't think he will, since the Statement of Allegations was never released)

Not certain why you're so quick to judgment again.
It might never have left the subcommittee anyways, and a trial might exonerate her completely. After all, it doesn't even allege that she or her husband made any money off of the meetings, and the bank itself only got a whopping $12 million in TARP money. I'd rather investigate Geithner with HIS connections.Texas Rep. Gene Green, a member of the panel that investigated Rangel, told reporters Friday thay investigators had passed a recommendation of a reprimand — the lightest possible punishment — to the adjudicatory subcommittee.

Re: And now Maxine Waters
Thats the same committee that was going to recommend a reprimand for Rangel too...
Her husband held $250,000 worth of stock in the ailing bank she tried to steer federal funds to. Nah, no financial interest at all there, huh Partha
She might be exonerated at trial, but she made a pre-emptive strike to push for a trial, which then halted the proceedings and prevented the Statement of Allegations from being released. There was no purpose in that move other than to prevent the release of information.
Regardless, she pulled the trigger on the trial.

I'm not sure you're tracking right. Yeah, the committee recommended a reprimand for Rangel with much more evidence. This is the investigators telling the committee that this is at best a non-issue. So, yeah, I would have expected the committee to dimiss the allegations, simply because the Ethics folks have always tread lightly no matter WHO runs it.Embar Angylwrath wrote:Thats the same committee that was going to recommend a reprimand for Rangel too...
