Controlling your computer with your brain.

Post by Alarik Zekaiden »

So are any of these "brain wave - computer mind reading" devices any good? Has anyone tried them? I can't seem to find a solid review anywhere.

Most people I talk to haven't even heard of these things, let alone actually bought one.

The ones I'm thinking of are here:

Emotiv Epoc

OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator

Has the awesomeness that is Shadowrun finally arrived to the modern age?

I haven't played with them myself, but I'm skeptical about their true ability. I'm guessing you could train yourself to produce activity in a particular area of your cortex, but it would be an extraordinarily coarse control - something like having a game controller with 3, maybe 4 buttons that require a lot of effort to push and sometimes go off all by themselves if you get distracted.

I have 2 grand invested in a company who is doing some pretty amazing stuff along these lines. They have a kid who can play pong with only signals interpreted from his brain. I think it's the first step towards the wetwire. Woowoo!

Oh and both those devices look like some b00shit. I think the actual technology is a ways off. Anyone remember Sony having a patent for some mind reading thing & they failed it or something?

These would be amazing games to try and play while stoned or on hallucinogenic drugs!
