Mouse Driver Help - Safe Driver Download Site
I've tried googling this and am still having issues.
I'm trying to get a USB mouse to work on my netbook and am having driver issues. (First time, ever. The mouse used to work on an old laptop with the same OS, XP.) First I had the hidusb.sys driver issue. I found a driver and installed that. Now, the auto install can't locate mouhid.sys. Can anyone recommend a safe, true, driver download site? I can't find it on Microsoft's site and I know some malware masquerades as this driver.

You don't need any software for a standard USB mouse. XP has support for it. Just go into the Device Manager and delete the mouse with it unplugged. Then plug it in and let the OS rediscover it and load its driver.
And if those drivers are missing you probably have a virus. In which case you should let the OS repair itself using the install disk and then reapply all windows updates.

They should all be on your XP installation CD, or more likely, just point it at c:\windows\system32 or c:\windows\system32\drivers when it asks you for them.

Verify that the mouse hasn't failed if you haven't already by using it in another machine.

The netbook didn't come with a Windows installation CD. Also, it's so new and I'm so careful, that I doubt I have a virus already.
I do point it at those folders. No driver there whatsoever.
I'll check the mouse.

It must have come with something? Worst case, just use any other XP installation you have laying about.Select wrote:The netbook didn't come with a Windows installation CD.

Nada. Sister has the same model and no disc. Geez, I'll have to look hard for one laying around. I hope it isn't back in NY. >.< Little time to make one, too, heh.

The site did nothing for me. I specifically need mouhid.sys and it didn't supply it. I guess I'll ask around to see if anyone has an XP disc lying around.

That file is not particularly hard to find if you google for it.

Re: Mouse Driver Help - Safe Driver Download Site
That is the site I found yesterday. I decided to download it and run scans on the file.
I know Google isn't hard.
I was just wondering about reputable driver download sites so I don't have to wonder about every file on so many mismatched sites if I may need more in the future,
I know Google isn't hard.

Was just thinking it may have been shipped with service pack 3 as well, if you're looking for something in future?
