my computer (dell 530s) has both an ethernet card as well as a broadcom wireless card. i assume that it has wireless because the computer is blue tooth ready as well. well, friday night it kept showing that i was online yet i was only locally connected. i tried everything to repair it and, long story short, i ended up uninstalling and deleting the wireless card. i tried system restore but it failed to restore the drivers. i went online to find the drivers, starting at the dell site. according to dell and their data on my particular system i don't have wireless so they are about as useful as tits on a bull. so i ended up downloading the drivers from another site. this file is a zip file. my question is.......where in the hell do i install it to if dell doesnt recognize that i have the wireless in the first place?
yes yes i know........never ever buy another pre=built computer. lesson learned. so can someone please tell me where the fuck i'm supposed to unzip the drivers to?

Re: driver woes
You can unzip them to any directory you want to create. Then run the Add Hardware wizard and when it says it cannot find the drivers point it to the directory you unzipped them to.

Re: driver woes
that didnt work. i tried to find generic drivers for it but nothing. i even took card out and reinstalled it. i am currently using a usb-enabled adapter but since it doesnt belong to me i guess i'll end up getting my own. i've spent hours trying to repair it but at this point i'm so over it i'd rather just buy an adapter or another card. thanks, kulaf for the reply.

Re: driver woes
Bluetooth is different to Wifi. Is it possible you just have a Broadcom Bluetooth adapter, not Wifi?i assume that it has wireless because the computer is blue tooth ready as well.

Re: driver woes
no i definitely have wireless. i don't know much at all about either BT or wireless connections so i guess i just assumed that they were somehow connected. anyway, after 4 emails with "bill" in callcutta i finally got someone who knew what i needed and hooked me up with a link to the drivers. even with that i ended up reinstalling the wireless card but, voila!, it works now.
