The Lives of Others (2006)

Post by Garrdor »

I give it a 9.5/10 if we're using the IMDB scale.

Pretty intense movie. Effing brilliant.

The movie is set in East Berlin in 1984. A Stasi/German secret police investigator/interrorgator is assigned to monitor a popular playwright (whos accused of being a western sympathizer). After installing microphones throughout his apartment, the Stasi agent then monitors the daily happenings. He becomes extremely attached to this playwright and his western-sympathizng girlfriend. Sounds like a blast, no?

But seriously, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. The acting, the music, the all-around produciton value is HUGE.

I seriously reccomend it to anybody who enjoys an intense drama.

Warning: Subtitled.
