Frankly, I think my government is behaving very poorly. They got into power on a platform of getting out of Iraq and demanding the US close Gitmo and now they're doing nothing tangible to support that platform - part of which has to involve helping out a little with what are essentially refugees.
Sorry, but unless they are a little more open with their "case-by-case" stuff I'd be willing to believe them but I'm going to put money on the fact that they saw bashing the US as a popular thing when they were in election season and now that they have to follow through on what their election promises entailed, they're seeing it as not so popular after all. I would be very surprised if they were given any sort of fair hearing - especially given these are the prisoners that the US hasn't been able to find enough evidence to charge even under the Bush Administration's extremely loose standards."Those resettlement requests have been considered on a case-by-case basis, against our stringent national security and immigration criteria," said Gillard, who temporarily heads the government while Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is on leave.
"Assessing those requests from a case-by-case basis, they had not met our stringent national security and immigration criteria and have been rejected."
