It's a great first step. But the technology uses electricity to generate the energy to split water, so it's really just an energy swap-out. It wouldn't be necessary unless you absolutely needed hydrogen as fuel source for some reason. Now.. if he could get that thing to run on photons (as opposed to electrons) directly.. THAT would be an accomplishment.
