Miscarriages as Art (article - no pictures)

Post by Harlowe »

I don't know how anyone on either side of this issue, can view this as anything but sick. She swears it's not for shock value. FYI- This link does not contain pictures.

I am just stunned beyond words. I can't believe the project would be allowed to be displayed in public. I think it's horrific and while not even touching on the morality of the subject i think it's a hideous display that one shouldn't be subjected to. If you want to induce your own abortions then my all means feel free, clearly maybe she shouldn't be allowed to breed, but to force someone to see it (and before the argument comes up, of course people can just NOT go, but if they want to see the other exhibits then they will be forced to see that hers is there as well) is just... god...

I can't believe the guys were willing participants either. How are they to be sure she wasn't going to inseminate herself and keep a baby, or have one of her herbal abortions fail and then theres the repercussions of having a child with someone whom i'm deeming as unstable.

it sounds to me like she may had had an actual abortion at some point in time, or a miscarriage and this is a very twisted way to be dealing with the subject

I don’t get it. Is that even art?

When I was in college Some fine arts major did his final project for his degree. He painted himself orange and mounted himself on a crucifix (with ropes not nails) on the west bank of the Mississippi all day for 3 days.
I didn’t get that either. I must be artistically crippled to not understand these things and see the beauty in them.

I'm hoping this is a huge sick hoax on her part for attention. Maybe she just collected menstrual blood for 9 months and then just filmed herself having some heavy flow into a bathtub, because I don't know how she could have actually pulled off multiple miscarriages (or self-induced abortions). Getting pregnant is an obstacle to begin with then, taking "herbal" shit to have these miscarriages? Sure there is shit out there that apparently causes contractions and what not, but these aren't going to be fail-safe things (and aren't they toxic anyway?) - maybe she didn't want to admit she obtained the actual prescription drugs illegally to do this "art project".

Anyway, it just seems too sick and also not very feasible that a girl actually did this.

She's marketing herself.

Half of what she she she knows makes no sense. The other half she knows is complete bull shit.

She's trying to make a splash so that her name will be recognized. Whether positively or negatively, an artist makes money off of name recognition.

She planned this from the get-go.

Ignore this craven narcissist.

I'm betting thats to cover their asses and she was advised to stick to a new story. I don't think either link is entirely true.

For the record when I was way overdue with one of my children I tried to herbs Black Cohosh and Blue Cohosh which are thought to induce contractions, bringing on labor in overdue women, or inducing miscarriages in women in early pregnancy. Also for the record my child was 2 weeks late, 10 lbs and medically induced by pitocin and even that took a lot longer then that thought it would and 2 actual inductions to get her to be born. not a single twinge so I wouldn't say that it was close. And I did my research on natural abortions, being as in a woman as overdue as I was it wasn't an abortion, it was an induction.

I as well have a hard time believing she could successfully get herself pregnant (i guess if she was inseminating herself multiple times a day every day then it could be possible to get pregnant every time she tried) as many times, and carrying to a point in which you'd be able to notice form the flow it was a miscarriage. Even at 1-2 weeks late with a miscarriage the woman half the time would just think she was late, unless she was hoping to be (or avoid) pregnancy.

She is a sick woman indeed no matter what the case.

Not really. If a person said they abused or molested children or abused animals & documented it to "raise awareness of violence" or did any other morally repulsive (or sociopathic) thing in a cavalier way - it would get a reaction. She lied to her fellow students and newspaper. They reported what she said, people found it disgusting and were outraged. After being called on it, she now says she lied and really didn't do what she told everyone she did. Like I said above, I was hoping this was a hoax because it didn't seem like a feasible thing to do. It's what she wanted people to believe she did.

Shitty artist wannabes do this stuff all the time for attention. Some of it is real, some of it is trying to get attention via shock-value (like the artist that had that starving dog exhibit). It's not art, it's just real life trolling for attention.

Sure it's a troll, but trolling is an art form too! Hell, you'd think anyone that had been near the internet in the past decade would have spotted "OMGZ I HAD ZILLIONS OF ABRTNS 4 FUNZ" as a troll, but she's obviously drawn a pretty sweet bag of fish on that one.
