Political Compass

Post by Harlowe »

I've done this before (I think we did this here) but it's kind of interesting to see where you fall each election period.

I ended up pretty much where I thought I would, though the last time I took this I was one bubble on the right side of the line.

It's not that far left, it only seems that way because the questions are skewed a bit towards the big-L Libertarian side of things.

You all probably can guess how mine came out, although, I'm sure you may have expected mine to be significantly more right wing.

I agree - in more than a few cases I found myself thinking "well, it depends on a whole bunch of other things".

After I took it the first time, I went back and started deliberately trying to 'bury the needle' in the seperate quadrants. The only one I was able to hit was Authoritarian Right. And that wasn't really even that 'right', just authoritarian. It seems a little too likely to cough up libertarian results. On the other hand, the chart of the current presidential candidates is kind of amusing.

The test itself reminded me a lot of the Nolan test that essentially tells you that you're a libertarian whether you really are or not.

I should also add the chart of the positions of primary candidates is pretty amusing (and completely unsurprising to me):

I found many of the questions to be a little too leading, especially when totally unqualified.
