I'm assuming by the title of the thread, "here they go again", that you too are upset that the media is trying to slime Hillary over something she had no knowledge of. I agree! It's completely absurd to blame her for wrongdoing done by someone else, or to run 24/7 coverage questioning whether her campaign will be damaged. Here they go again, indeed.

How do you know she "had no knowledge" of the details? Usually large contributors go through some kind of vetting for exactly this reason.Lurker wrote:I'm assuming by the title of the thread, "here they go again", that you too are upset that the media is trying to slime Hillary over something she had no knowledge of. Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

No one can say if she had knowledge or not. Probably not, but who knows. However, calling someone that donates less than 0.1% of the campaign funds a "large contributer" is somewhat of a stretch wouldn't you think?Embar Angylwrath wrote:How do you know she "had no knowledge" of the details? Besides, the trial lawyers association are much bigger crooks than this guy.

He also hosted fund raising events and bundled contributions from other donors. It's fair to call him a large contributer.Ddrak wrote:calling someone that donates less than 0.1% of the campaign funds a "large contributer" is somewhat of a stretch wouldn't you think?
The campaign's vetting process didn't pick up the 15 year old warrant. Hillary's campaign even issued a statement defending Hsu's integrity when the story first broke. After they verified his fugitive status they backed away from him. Clearly they didn't know.

I stand corrected. I just read the $32,000 number and assumed it was another storm in a teacup.

$260,000 that they could roughly estimate would certainly be considered a major donor. Especially if he was an organizer of contributions and events designed to raise money.
That being said,

I could not agree more. I dealt with the Trial Lawyers Association in California some years ago while working for an assemblyman's campaign. ATLA's PAC are the Scumbags of the Universe. Oy, oy!Ddrak wrote:the trial lawyers association are much bigger crooks than this guy

Running a close second is the NEA. The NEA does absolutely nothing to further educational standards in the US.Finglefinn wrote:$260,000 that they could roughly estimate would certainly be considered a major donor. Given this information, there is absolutely no way ALL of these Democrats missed the guy through a legitimate vetting process. The guy was too well politically connected. The article implies the Democrats reached to Hsu on occasion. When you work with someone that closely, and you're a politician, you know everyhting about the guy.
Mark my words, this is going to lead back to China money trying to influence American politics.. again.. with a Clinton in the middle of it... again.

Well, who do the socialist Chinese relate to the best? Isn't it fair to say that their #1 choice would be a Clinton?

They did all miss the 15 year old open warrant. I doubt everyone did an FBI background check on him if he was introduced to them by a trusted source. Guess what else; California couldn't seem to track him down for 15 years even though he's maintained a very public profile.
How you make the leap to him being a Chinese spy trying to buy influence is anyones guess. Finglefinn's comment was funny. You people sure are nutty.

Chinese spy? Who said that?
Lurker, please. Do you truely believe that big business in China has no reason to try to influence US politics?

LOL! That spokesman for the school is a dolt. Hsu's on the Board of Directors and he's not directly involved with securing money for the school? Yeah. If you intend on lying to me, you're going to have to do a better job than that.On Friday, Hsu, who has an apparel business in New York, also resigned from the board of trustees of The New School and from the board of governors of The New School's Eugene Lang College. The college received a federal appropriation secured by Clinton last year, but a spokesman for the school said Hsu was not involved in seeking money for the school.

The first person to use the word "spy" in this thread was you. No one said anything about Hsu being a spy. My suspicion is that he's a an unoffical lobbyist for elements of the Hong Kong Chinese.

Re: Here they go again....
What exactly in my mind do I need to make up? Socialism is the national political policy of China. Chinese businesses conform to the national policies of their country. The Clintons have been sympathetic to socialist countries in the past. Just because I said "Chinese big business" does not imply that they are inherently non-socialist. I think my point, since you need further explaination, is that big business in China has always lobbied Congress in order to keep tariffs on imports low. Also, American companies who have contracts with factories in China, for example, Nike, also lobby Congress for the same.

Re: Here they go again....
This is a yawner (much like the Larry Craig situation). I think you need to bring in the Swiftboat Vets in if you really want to have any success in flaming Hillary to the uneducated masses. If you can't do it with a scathing, hysterical 3 minute sound bite, it's not going to happen. Though the "China" thing is a step in the right direction.

THAT is exactly what I meant by "Here they go again..."
If you all want I can pull up the rather extensive list of people from China who illegally donated money to her husband and to Al Gore with the intention to influence the U.S. political process.
This is a subject that Dems REALLY want to stay away from.
