old interview from 02/2006 but the subject applies

ANETs Jeff Strain of Guild Wars

What is the possibility of Guild Wars appearing on other platforms?

we're looking at how broadly Internet will be adopted for the next round of consoles - how much people really get into that. Right now, for online games, it's all about PC. That's where the online gamers really are.

If that changes, though, then we're ready. All of our technology is developed in an engine-agnostic format; we can very quickly plug in the client component for different platforms. Certainly, all the back-end technology, the server technology, doesn't care what the host platform is at all, so we could very easily do versions of our games that inter-operate across different platforms.

we're keeping an eye on the technology - but we love console games, and I'd love to see Guild Wars on an Xbox or a PlayStation 3.

Console related

SOE: All our MMOs in development have a console component

a new lineup of titles, including Gods & Heroes, The Agency, Free Realms, and the just-announced Ramayan 3392 A.D (see above image).

Though only The Agency has been announced for the PlayStation 3, Nicholas Beliaeff recently tossed a bucket of gasoline on the rumor fire that we may be getting a couple more massively massive games on the PS3.

When asked by Gamasutra if SOE is looking more seriously at console MMOs, Nicholas said, "Absolutely. We have EverQuest Online Adventures that came out on the PS2 four years ago, and that was one of the first, along with Final Fantasy XI, to be a console MMO.

For us as a company moving forward, all of our MMOs in development have a console component.

Is there a chance that you might bring out your first MMO on PS3, and that same game could appear on Xbox 360?

No. If we put it on PS3, it will only appear on PS3.

Might you develop other games for Wii or Xbox 360?

We have no plans.

After M$ dumped them (See Marvel Online) it's no surprise they are developing for the PS3.
