New Vanguard Rumor

Post by Flunkie »

Silky Venom and Fires of Heaven have discussions about this rumorfrom VGFlames.

If true, my prediction would be:
SOE takes complete control, maybe a facilities merge in the works?

Sigil out of money shuts down the Carlsbad building and move programmers to Miramar where SOE HQ is to save money.

Server merges to follow.

Having known LFG for a long time (since the start of EQ2), he's more than likely just trolling.

[quote]“SOE is in discussions with Sigil regarding the future of Vanguard and Sigil Games in Carlsbad. Talks are going well and first and foremost, our primary concern right now is what's best for Vanguard and its community. We want to ensure that this game and its community have a healthy future. The specifics that we work out over the coming days will all be with that single goal in mind.â€

Well that's pretty bad. Saying a game needs a relaunch 2 months after launching pretty much says it all.

Maybe people will be looking at other MMORPGs a year from now. But there will also be new ones to look at, like Age of Conan. The market won't stand still.

People here seem to like VG but I don't see giving it a try until this 'relaunch' comes about.

It's hard to say if a relaunch will do very much for Vanguard, sounds like wishful thinking more than reality. EQ2 went through all kinds of changes and by all accounts it's a pretty good game now. They don't have a spectaular number of players. SWG did do a revamp and full relaunch, and they have to label buildings as abandoned because there are ghost towns all over the place.

There is so much competition for MMO's these days that it's hard to imagine Vanguard doing anything big enough to get 500K players.

I think this is great for the future of VG. Frankly when I saw the launch sub numbers I thought the game was going to be in trouble......and 2 months later it is. The servers are starting to feel like EQ2's after its launch and they really need some consolidation to get back up to that critical population needed for a group centric game.

Not being an SOE hater....I see nothing but positives from any kind of aquisition.

Funny how quickly people forget the past. This basically means that there is no VG anymore. Their strings are now pulled by the puppet master. Anytime, in any event, news, music, media ect, when big money starts pulling the strings they do so with the idea that they want to make MORE money, thus focusing on making money and not necessarily making a good product. Occasionally the two meet up, but in this instance as with EQ the focus went to making a product that would generate the most moolah. Which meant catering to all those gajillion punk kids with zero attention spans and the absolute inability to earn anything.

Oh well, I'm glad this happened now instead of 2 years down the road.
