Been having some fun playing with Gentoo Linux lately. Pretty interesting really and good for learning about how the whole system works. Managed to get it up and running on both my Duron 750 firewall machine (after the HDD died and I had to reinstall Linux) and just for fun and games on my A64/3200 (in 64 bit mode of course).
Overall the flexibility is great and I have no real problems getting everything going, once I figure out which program is in which emerge package.
