Re:
You shouldn't. Dave Krieg never had the talent, intelligenc,e, the coaching, nor the weapons that Crazy-Legs Hassel'sack' has.Partha wrote:Nah, I admit to thinking SF's defense would show up for the game, though. When I see Hasselbeck, though, my backbrain says 'Dave Kreig', and I can't take him seriously.
Of course, considering the QB coach is Jim Zorn, I guess that aint saying much.
I ended up 12 - 1 in my predictions this week. Things are looking good for Joe Gibbs to go 2-1.
By the by, Beastyall...
All those penalties were legit, thanks. I watched the game too, and Carr clearly got shoved after the ball was away for no damn reason. You can't touch the Quarterback in this league after the ball's gone, period. Everybody knows that, and so does the defensive end that shoved him. The helmet to helmet call I didn't see but it was probably true. And the holding? Holy crap. I think the Chief's offensive line is "so good" because they're better then others at getting away with holding. They're like Green Bay's offensive line, the worst sorry sack of "legal" holders in the NFL. But all the holding calls were legit, dunno why you're bitching. So you helped pay off the refs and their phantom roughing the passer (led to 7 points), the phantom helmet to helmet shot (should have been off-setting at best) at least two phantom holds and a illegal motion on Tony Gonzolaz going.. uhm backwards.
You wanna see a botched call? Go look at the reason the Titans lost. The pass interference call that Jimmy Smith got in the endzone was complete bullshit. Tiki Barber didn't get a touchdown either, but I'll take it.

If you wanna cry "phantom" calls, go find another game to watch. The Chiefs/Texans game was dead on.
Just own up to the fact your team sucks.

Yeah, I loved calling that one too. Die Rams. Die. You got the Hawks in two weeks, with the Sea-Chickens off a bye week at Qwest Field. You in deep shit, St. Louis.
And to think, I had the Rams initially as an 11-5 team with a tie with the Hawks for the NFC West. So far, my predictions on the Hawks results have been accurate. Which means they'll trash the Rams at home, lose to New England in Foxboro, and then trash the Cardinals in Arizona. That's 5 - 1 after 7 weeks for those of you playing at home.
Hawks are looking good to take the NFC-West easily.
As for the Cowboys / Redskins game, what a game. I was wrong on the prediction, but what an ending. Someone on the Redskins bench is kicking themselves for not saving a time out somewhere along the way.

They have the 2 worst teams in football in their league and the 3rd team has the worst gameday coach I've ever seen. Still don't think they'll do anything in the payoffs though.Hawks are looking good to take the NFC-West easily.
That and 2 of the worst pass interference calls that I've seen in awhile both go against the Skins. Well one that shouldn't have been called and one that wasn't called.Someone on the Redskins bench is kicking themselves for not saving a time out somewhere along the way.

Why do you say that? Just because they didn't last year?Flaten wrote:Still don't think they'll do anything in the payoffs though.
I'm not going to say they're going to win the Superbowl, but until we get to the playoffs and see who plays who, where, and when, then i wont say they WONT do well in the playoffs either. They're a damn good team, and I can't believe nobody's giving them props right now. Originally I had them pegged to lose to New England, now I'm not so sure they will. It'll be a tough game in Foxboro, but if they win that, then hopefully people will give them their dues.
Unfortunately, it's going to take exactly that to convince anybody.
I didn't see the plays, so I can't say for sure. What I do know is that pass interference calls have nothing to do with them not having time outs left. They blew their three timeouts, one on a stupid review request call, and 2 in the third quarter. That and 2 of the worst pass interference calls that I've seen in awhile both go against the Skins. Well one that shouldn't have been called and one that wasn't called.
It's real simple. If they have ONE time out left, they at least tie the game up for Overtime. Then who knows.

I had a very good prediction week in week three. 12 - 2 is nothing to sneeze at. Stupid Titans and Redskins couldn't pull it off. Oh well. I loved predicting the Chiefs loss and the Rams loss tho. I am so cool.
Overall: 32 - 14
Next:
Oakland at Houston - I am not sure why, but the Raiders seem to do better with Kerry Collins at the helm. That's fine, I guess. They still need to get a solid running game going, but with those young wide receivers getting open a lot, the Raiders passing attack is really looking impressive. Raiders D with Ted Washington and Warren Sapp, and should stuff any running game. With good cover people in the secondary, the Raiders D has solidified into a very effective corps. Houston is riding a very interesting high from beating the Chiefs last week, and even more impressive is that they did it without any measurable running game. David Carr is showing some real leadership ability in the fourth quarter, and that may mean this game comes down to the wire. Somehow, I don't think the Texans can stop the re-emerging youth that is making itself known on the Raiders. Raiders 20, Texans 17.
New Jersey Giants at Green Bay - Read my lips: The Giants are a better team then people are giving them credit for. Kurt Warner has thrown any doubts about his ability to quarterback out the window, Tiki Barber has lost his fumbilitis, and the defense is taking a lot of chances and getting turnovers. Problem is, taking chances often times leads you to getting burned. Bad. And Green Bay can burn you if you're not playing conservatively. Green Bay has had a rough couple of weeks. Losing to the Bears in Lambeau was flat embarrassing, but losing a passing battle last week in Indianapolis just proved that Green Bay really has nothing amazing going for them right now. Favre can still chuck the ball, and Walker had a hell of a day. Problem is, if you get 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, you can't allow some rookie from Washingotn State University to strip you and lose the game. Ouch. From stud to dog with one little error. Green Bay also seems to have lost some confidence in Ahman Green, but they're going to have to get him back into the game. If the Packers can't recover, the Giants will taket his game handedly. Giants 24, Packers 17.
Washington at Cleveland - Save time outs this time, Gibbs. Your team is actually playing very well. The defense is doing well, and the offense is doing enough but needs a little shove to get really good. They could have won that game on Monday Night if they'd just saved one time out. Oh well. Cleveland is also playing under the radar for some reason. Maybe it's because they haven't had a running game all year, and Garcia has had to do it all himself. This week they may get Suggs back, and if they can establish a ground game they might be able to get going. Washington has the best rushing defense right now, so that doesn't appear likely. Redskins 23, Browns 16.
Philadelphia at Chicago - Eagles are still the team to beat in the NFC. Chicago may give them some trouble all around though, since the Bears have defense, at the very least, unlike their Detroit divisionmates who layed down for every pass Andy Reid called. If Andy Reid is going to establish a running game, ever, it wont be this week. Eagles 20, Bears 10.
New England at Buffalo - Coming off a bye week into a road game can be tough, especially going into hostile Buffalo. The Patriots are going for a record this week, which, because of the nature of the Football Gods, means they wont get it. You see, Buffalo was one of the last teams to beat them, and the Football Gods have set up this confrontation to bring some humility back to a Patriots team that, really, is not as good as people think they are. Oh sure, Tom Brady is key, and he's got three receivers who get open, but the Patriots defense has been exposed, and they aren't using Corey Dillon like they should be. Buffalo's defense is way too good for you to just think you can waltz all over them through the air, and without a ground game to pound into the defense and wear them out, the Patriots will lose. Even if the Bills only score 7 points, it will be enough to beat and humiliate the Patriots. Patriots 10, Bills 17
That's my upset of the week, by the way.
Indanapolis at Jacksonville - Colts are flying high on offense and crawling in the mud on defense. Not a good sign. Ask the Chiefs how long that lasts. On the positive side, the Colts have a much deadlier offense then the Chiefs ever did, but they also have a worse defense then the Chiefs ever did. Not a good combo. This is pretty amazing when you consider that Tony Dungy, who basically built the Bucs defense, is the head coach. I scratch my head daily. Jacksonville has a very good defense. Very good. They just have a nonexistent offense. Oddly enough, the offense has done "just enough" to win, which is pretty much all you need for at least a 9 and 7 season. Jacksonville has NOT sold me that it's worthy of such praise, and this week will be their first loss. Colts 23, Jaguars 7.
Cincinatti at Pittsburgh - Regretting Carson Palmer yet? You should be. He obviously was not ready. You benched your best QB and proven leader in John Kitna so you could put your big money goldenboy in there. Well, he may be learning, and thats good, but your season is in doubt because of it. Palmer has showed for the last two weeks that he is NOT comfortable against really good defenses. Kitna has been through all that and knows how to handle good defenses. The continued farce by the Bengals confuses me. Especially since they're not sticking to their running game as much. Well, it's their money. The Steelers are going to have Big Ben in there again this week, and he looked fine last week in the Hurricane Bowl of '04. Of course, hurricane or no, the Dolphins weren't going to win, so maybe it doesn't mean much. But I think Big Ben has discovered Hines Ward (FINE WITH ME) and will go to him a lot. Cincinatti has a fast defense, but their passing D is not that good. Hell, their rushing D isn't that good either, so Duce Staley could have a big day. The Bengals also have way too many injured players, the Steelers have only a few. Bengals 19, Steelers 24
Atlanta at Carolina - Michael Vick Proven! For those following along, thats an M a V and a P. Sure, he's not putting up fantastic numbers, but he is the Ichiro Suzuki of the NFL, damned exciting to watch and his team is winning, there is no doubt about that. Supposedly he's going to try to get his receivers involved as more then just rushing blockers. That's fine, but as long as Vick is back there, your linebackers are going to have to have a spy on him at all times. This could free up a lot of middle and out routes midranged. Atlanta leads the world in rushing with several backs and even receivers doing the job. Carolina needs to recover fast. They really aren't playing that badly, but with their big truck Stephen Davis hurt, their running game si taking a back seat. Colbert is filling in nicely for the injured Steve Smith, and Mushin Muhamad and Rickey Proehl know how to get open. Could be a big aerial day in Carolina. Vick 23, Panthers 21.
New Orleans at Arizona - Saints have gotten over the stumble they suffered against Seattle, and have figured out their offense. Deuce McAllister who? And the Defense is doing enough to hold people down. The Aints have proudly added that S back to their name. Now they have to keep it there. They can't stumble this week, or they may not recover. Arizona is really playing better then their record indicates. The defense has been absolutely amazing compared to last year, but the offense is really sputtering. When they lost Boldin and Shipp at the beginning of the year, I knew it was going to be tough for them to win games offensively, and McCown, the golden boy I think is going to be a fine quarterback one day, was benched for Sean King. A marginal improvement there. McCown will start this week, and hopefully will find some people open. Problem is, I think the Saints will take this game and keep rolling, but the Cards defense will make it difficult for them. Saints 17, Cardinals 15
Denver at Tampa Bay - Here comes upset of the week number 2. Denver has not impressed me at all. Sure, they walked all over the Chiefs, but who hasn't? They faltered badly on the road against Jacksonville's amazing Defense, and then came back home and beat up on the Chargers. Two 0-3 teams and one 3-0 team. Hmm, the prospects of Denver vs a competant defense leads me to believe they will not get anywhere against Tampa Bay. The Bucs, on the other hand, found something last week against a good Oakland defense, now they need to exploit it. They need to build off that momentum and get their offense going. They will have Pittman back this week, and with Charlie Garner hurt and a young Jameel White in front of him, Pittman may very well provide the spark needed to get something going. John Lynch, in the secondary, will have a big day against his former team, but Denver will lose against a very inspired and quick Bucs defense. Broncos 13, Bucs 17
Tennessee at San Diego - Here comes upset of the week number 3. Yes, I have three this week, because the Titans are in deep shit. Losing Steve McNair last week means he's only questionable for this week's game. Knowing McNair's history, he'll gut it out and come back to play, but will he be healthy enough to beat the Chargers? Lets face it, the Chargers have played good football. They just haven't been holding their oponents to under the scores they get. Brees is playing well, Tomlinson is playing well, the Chargers offense in general is doing well. They just need to find some inspiration on defense to stop someone from scoring, and they will win this game. Titans 23, Chargers 24.
New Jersey Jets at Miami - Jets come off a bye week with everything still intact, and unlike the Patriots, no record to go for. Besides, the Football Gods have cursed Miami this year, long overdue payback for the undefeated season and never winning a Superbowl with the legendary Dan Marino. My friends, Jay Fiedler gets the start this week. Jets defense is good, Jets offsense is good, Miami is cursed. End of story. Jets 33, Miami 0.
0 - 16... I have guaranteed it. It will be.
St. Louis at San Francisco - UPSET OF THE WEEK # 4! Jesus, this will be upset week in the NFL. Why? Well, the Rams suck. How's that sound? Bulger is not the real deal, he is jittery and impulsive and relies way too often on everybody around him to pick him up. If this continues, the name Chris Chandler could be heard in St. Louis soon. The 49ers are going to be jacked up after being shut out for the first time in 27 years, and the Rams defense sucks too bad to stop them. Oh I will enjoy this. Rams 20, 49ers 24.
Kansas City at Batlimore - What's a shitty game like this doing on Monday Night Football? Chiefs may have a good offense, but Baltimore's defense will kill them. Chiefs have a shitty defense, but may contain Baltimore's offense. What's that left with? Yep, a 0-0 tie. No, that wont happen. Ravens will find a touchdown to win this somewhere. Chiefs 10, Ravens 17.
Sucks to be KC right now.
Byes: Seattle (/sigh), Dallas, Detroit, Minnesota.

Re:
Week 3: 9-5. Season to date: 29-17.
Week 4 predictions:
New England at Buffalo: I'd call this a perfect example of a 'look past' game the Bills could win - if the game after it wasn't against Miami, who no one's looking at. 24-10.
Philadelphia at Chicago: I'd love to see the Bears win, and the defense will try to keep it close one more time, and Quinn's not as bad as you'd figure, but just too much Philly. 24-17.
Washington at Cleveland: Miserable offense in Brownstown doesn't improve against a pretty good Redskin defense. 17-9.
New York Football Giants at Green Bay: Key to this upset special of the week? Secondary play. 21-20.
Oakland at Houston: If anyone in New England cared, this would be the 'who cares outside New England?' game of the week. Instead, it's just.....blah. 20-17.
Indianapolis at Jacksonville: Holy Hannah, Indy has the worst defense in the league. Too bad Jacksonville has the worst offense. 28-10.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh: You know it's bad when your leading scorer has 13 yards of total offense and your leading receiver catches more balls than the rest of the team combined. Pittsburgh lives on Hines Ward making lots of catches and Jerome running it in from the 1 - both of which are eminently preventable. 31-20.
New Orleans at Arizona: Another road team beats up on a home team with little offense. Film at 11. 34-13.
Atlanta at Carolina: Mike Vick cannot keep the smoke and mirrors up for much longer. 20-6.
New York Jets at Miami: I expect to see Jarrett Payton signed any day now. Jesus, is this team pathetic. 38-3.
Tennessee at San Diego: Yes, I'm seriously predicting this. Volek will do well. Brees will do better, and LT > Brown. 19-17.
Denver at Tampa Bay: Another Florida team without punch. Call it Whipping Boy North University. 31-15.
St. Louis at San Francisco: In honor of SF wimping out of my minor upset and laying a big fat goose egg. 41-14.
Kansas City at Baltimore: Coin flip. 18-17.
Week 4 predictions:
New England at Buffalo: I'd call this a perfect example of a 'look past' game the Bills could win - if the game after it wasn't against Miami, who no one's looking at. 24-10.

Oh lordy. Giving Belichick 2 weeks to prepare for a team should be illegal. The Bills have one of the worst offenses in the NFL and were even shut down by the Raiders. The Patriots will blitz Bledsoe oh about 80% of the time. How are they not using Dillion well? He's averaging 5+ yards a carry through 2 games. The Colts expected for the Pats to hammer Dillion at them so what did they do? Passed, passed, passed. Then he has 30 carries in Arizona and controls the game. I'm not saying the Pats will 16-0 this year that's never going to happen but they will go 14-2 or so and break the record for most consecutive wins.New England at Buffalo - Coming off a bye week into a road game can be tough, especially going into hostile Buffalo.

Well then Flaten, looking at their schedule, whom do you think the 2 losses are going to go to?
Just for the record, the rest of the teams they play are:
Home: Dolphins, Seahawks, Jets, Bills (again), Ravens, Bengals, 49ers
Away: Bills (this week), Steelers, Rams, Chiefs, Browns, Dolphins (again), Jets (again)
Hmm...
Current combined record of all teams they play (not including ones they play twice) is 13 - 20.
Only teams they play with winning records (currently) are Jets, Seahawks, Ravens, and Steelers. And the two 3-0 teams they get to face at home. Lucky ass scheduling there.
Trust me, they're going to Buffalo and playing a tough game there. The Football Gods are angry with the presumptuous Patriots and will smite them this weekend.

At the beginning of the year the Patriots had what many considered the hardest schedule in the NFL. But like Chris Berman says "that's why they play the game". The road games at St. Louis, Miami and KC looked like the 3 hardest games on their scheule but obviously not anymore. I don't see the Pats losing at home this year but they have some games they could lose on the road. They'll be favored in every game they play put I just can't see any team going undefeated ever again.

Forgot to make my picks but here they are, 30-16 on the year tho so not bad
Cincinnati vs. PIttsburgh - Bungles win because PIttsburgh still isn't very good and Palmer is farther than Roethlisberger
Indianapolis vs. Jacksonville - Jacksonville's D may be good but they aren't Patriots good against the Colts
Oakland vs. Houston - With Collins throwing deep balls to Porter and Curry, Oakland is a bit more fun to watch and can win against the Texans
New England vs. Buffalo - Buffalo may be the last team to beat the Patriots but they won't win this one
Philadelphia vs. Chicago - McNabb keeps going and Da Bears are in even more trouble without Grossman
Washington vs. Cleveland - It's time for Portis to have a big game and no SOLDIER makes me cry
NY Giants vs. Green Bay - Favre lights up the Giants secondary in Lambeau
Atlanta vs. Carolina - Vick squeaks by as the Falcons win another ugly, low scoring game
New Orleans vs. Arizona - Geaux Saints, mwahahaha, Super Bowl bound !
NY Jets vs. Miami - The Bionic One leads his team to victory over the offensively challenged Dolphins
Tennessee vs. San Diego - Time may be up for McNair and the Titans but even they can beat the Chargers
Denver vs. Tampa Bay - Griffin gets back on track against the crappy Bucs and Denver comes in and steam rolls like everyone else pretty much has
St. Louis vs. San Francisco - The Niners suck and Bulger can toss the ball around a lot
Cincinnati vs. PIttsburgh - Bungles win because PIttsburgh still isn't very good and Palmer is farther than Roethlisberger
