Hey no bitching. Your Running Backs at least produced. Shaun Alexander ran into a brick wall called Tampa Bay, and I dont know what the hell Tiki Barber's excuse was.Partha wrote:David Akers needs to blow an extra point and pull a hammy when he does it. Damn you Zany!
But, hey, the Eagles could get shut out against that stellar Viking D.

This really shouldn't be THAT big a surprise should it? When the only thing you can do is win shootouts, but run into a defense that can stop you at least 25 percent of the time, you'll lose.Embar Angylwrath wrote:And I'll add this.. how in the hell is KC 0-2 and sitting at the BOTTOM of the AFC West?????
Damn...
Denver's D stopped the Chiefs a couple of times. Chiefs D stopped Denver nada. Carolina's D stopped Kansas City a couple of times. Chiefs D stopped Carolina only because Carolina fucked up.
Sorry, but when you have no defense, you wont win. A superpowered offense only works if you rname is the Indianapolis Colts and you can score through the air at will.
As for the Lions, they played two other shitty teams. Who cares? Tho i am shocked at the Bears victory over the Packers, in Lambeau.

I wouldn't quite call the Bears shitty. They have a great defense, and Rex Grossman doesn't look that bad either. They are an up and coming team for sure.ZanypherCocoapuffs wrote:As for the Lions, they played two other shitty teams. Who cares? Tho i am shocked at the Bears victory over the Packers, in Lambeau.
I guess Lions fans care. We've been through a shitty past couple of seasons. So 2-0 is a great feeling for once. As you can probably tell. I'm a Lions fan. I bleed Honolulu Blue and Silver.
I just hope we don't trounced by Philly to bad.

Blah, too many upsets last week.
Last week: 10 - 6.
Overall: 20 - 12.
Next:
Arizona at Atlanta - As good as Arizona has been playing recently (comparatively that is), they're not really clicking on all cylanders. If they had both their top young wide receivers, they might be an offensive team to contend with. Defensively, I think they've been doing relatively well. They only gave up 17 to the Rams and 23 to the Pats. Not bad when you consider most people had the Rams and Pats scoring about 28 to 30 points each. They need an offense if they want to win. The Falcons, well, I was honestly doubting them to be a good team this year, but they're proving me wrong. Vick is really the Man (though he still didn't throw for over 175 yards) and with all the rushing yards the Falcons can put up (From Vick, running backs, and even wide receivers) they should do rather well keeping Defenses guessing for a while. Atlanta's defense has showed some real moxy this year against a Rams offense that still should have put more then 13 points on the board. Cardinals 13, Vick 24
Baltimore at Cincinnati - With Johnathan Ogden back, the running game of Jamal Lewis is back in gear, and will need to be against a defense that has been stingy with rushing yards. Boller still hasn't convinced me that he can lead an aerial attack worth squat, and losing his number 1 receiver in Todd Heap wont help. Lots of rock pounding. Defense is solid, as always. Carson Palmer's first true test is with these Ravens. It's a good thing he's playing at home, because that might help his confidence. Last week he got shelled quite a bit by a good Dolphins defense, so he's shown that he really hasn't figured out how to pick apart the weaknesses of a high powered defense yet. With that in mind, he's not going to put up enough points to win this ballgame. This may be a defensive struggle. Ravens 20, Bengals 17
Chicago at Minnesota - Bears have a good defense. Bears scored off their defense last week. Mike Brown scored. Mike Brown is injured. The defense is still good though and they have a real test for them with the Vikings. Rex Grossman has improved quite a bit, and Travis Jones is the real deal. The Bears may be able to make this interesting, as long as their defense can hold the Vikings in check. Minnesota showed how weak it really is against a good defense. Sure, the Eagles were pumped up and playing at home, but they still made the Vikings look ineffective. Randy Moss, for the last couple of weeks, has been held to under 100 yards, but not out of the endzone. As long as he gets the touchdowns when it matters, the yards can go spit. There are other ways to move the ball. Vikings defense is sad. Bears 17, Vikings 21
Cleveland at New Jersey Giants - The Browns have played some tough football thus far. Not particularly consistant football, but definately tough. The passing attack seems to be ok, but Garcia doesn't have enough folks to throw to to make a lot happen. The running game is mired with injuries and lackluster performances Overall this offense is just average at the moment, but could bust out any second. Defensively, the Browns are doing fine. Kurt Warner is doing a fine job as the Giants starting quarterback, which is good considering the running game has been hit hard by defenses. Most folks expected Tiki Barber and Ron Dayne combinations, which has allowed Warner to pass the ball around a bit. Cleveland has a good rushing defense, but a so so passing defense. We'll see what happens. Giants D makes turnovers seem easy. Browns 20, Giants 24
Houston at Kansas City - Houston has been the definition of underachieving. They were supposed to be one of the best teams in their divison this year, just because they had quite a few pieces together to make something happen, but they're not making anything happen. The offense is actually motoring along fine, but like Cleveland, hasn't busted out yet. It's got a big FAT defensive target to work on this week though. Texans defense is inconsistant, but basically ok. Kansas City has a lot of problems. A LOT of problems. It's amazing how the #1 offense has looked so poor, even if it has faced some really really tough defenses. The biggest problem for the Chiefs is the passing game. They have the best backs in the world, but the most underused or worst WRs period. Even Tony Gonzales isn't getting the rock. It's not Trent Green either, I know he can throw. I think the Chiefs need to get back to a balanced offensive scheme or they wont even be able to win the shootouts that their defense puts them in! Upset of the week! Texans 24, Kansas City 23
Jacksonville at Tennessee - I admit it, I had no idea the Jags had such a good defense. But I know now, and so does everybody else. That means that offensive coordinators are going to figure out ways to score on them eventually, and the offense needs to step it up and actually score if they want to win any more ballgames. Ask Baltimore what happens when you have a great defense but no offense. Hey, Leftwich, THROW THE DAMN BALL! The Titans are still the all around solid team, with no major strengths or weaknesses anywhere that I can see. That, of course, is their weakness. They are a good team, but not a great one. Certainly a better offense then Jacksonville's though, and the Jags are going to eat their first loss this week. Jaguars 7, Titans 20
New Orleans at St. Louis - Saints, aints? They don't even know what they are! Their Jeckyl and Hide syndrome is going to make this a long season. Duce McAllister is out, and that hurts, but it wasn't like he was doing a whole lot anyway. Aaron Brooks and 4 good receivers (Horn, Stallworth, Pathon, and Conwell) SHOULD be able to get around the Rams moderate defense. Saints D is ok, but not great. The Rams are looking about as bad as they've been in the last few years. Their offense is getting yards, but not getting points. That doesn't cut it, gentlemen, and the trend will continue until either Bulger decides to stop being a wuss or the WRs remember that they're the freaking Rams and the Best Show on Turf. Rams D is lackluster. After two weeks of moderate to bad Rams playing, I think the Saints can beat them at home, no matter how hard that is to do. Saints 28, Rams 24.
Philadelphia at Detroit - God, there's nothing wrong with the Eagles right now. Their offense is superb, their defense is hungry, and the injuries and replacements haven't mattered for shit. The free agents are playing like they should, and the old teammates are clicking without missing a beat. This is the NFC team to beat. Detroit is coming along nicely. I think Meriucci has done something to the Lions that no coach has since even before Barry Sanders: Given the team hope. Harrington's starting to play like he should, the offense seems to be getting close, and the defense is even making a strong effort. This game will be a learning experience for them, and if it doesn't break their spirit, then the Lions will go far. Eagles 24, Lions 20.
Pittsburgh at Miami - Maddox is hurt, so Rothlesburger is in. What does that mean? It means that the offense will be a little more jittery, but should basically perform to about their normal expected levels of skill. Deuce Staley is still Deuce Staley, Burress and Ward still catch the damn ball no matter where it's thrown, and the Bus gets into the end zone on the goal line. Steelers defense has been plagued by deep ball threats, but they should handle anything Miami can throw at them. Because Miami sucks. They're 0-2 and WELL on their way to that 0-16 prediction I laid out before them! Yes, your defense is a good one, but your offense can't do shit. In the NFL, you are not going to beat anybody unless you can score, and the Dolphins can't score. Steelers 20, Dolphins 0.
San Diego at Denver - I am so very surprised by the play of the Chargers, that I really don't know how to predict them anymore. Yes, they've lost the last two weeks as expected, but they've played so hard and lost by so little that I can't imagine them staying in the gutter for too much longer. Brees looks good, but he's taking a break this week, and Flutie is still a damn good quarterback. The best part about the Chargers offense is that, while Ladanian Tomlinson is getting the rushing nod, nobody on the WR area is the Man, this means that they've got a lot of people doing their jobs. That's dangerous for anybody to try to defend against. Defensively, they suck balls, and that's the only reason they haven't won yet. Denver has been doing well, unless they're playing against a team with a defense that is, and the Chargers don't have much of one to speak of. The Broncos defense has been doing a decent job, about as expected, and may be able to hold down the Chargers long enough to win. Offensively, Quentin Griffin can run the ball, and fumble it. That's about it. Chargers 23, Broncos 24.
Green Bay at Indianapolis - What the fuck is wrong with the Packers? They come out in week one and just run everywhere they want to all over a very good rushing defense, but then can't handle the Bears at home in Lambeau? Is it my imagination, or is Favre not throwing as much this year? Is this a sign? A hint? Is it the chink in the Packers armor that people have been waiting for? I think so, and that's not good. Packers D is doing a fine job. The Colts should be 2 and 0, but they just tanked against the Pats. They're playing to a level that I think even preseason analysts didn't expect, at least on offense. This week, the Colts don't have the Edge in the backfield, but Domiinc Rhodes can do whatever James can do, and probably better. Passing attack is sick. Defense is poor to bad. But all the defense has to do is key on Green Bay rushing the ball. Stack the line of scrimmage and make the Packers throw the ball. Green Bay knows it doesn't have any receivers for shit, and I think that is going to be exposed here in this game. Packers 10, Colts 30.
San Francisco at Seattle - I'll admit that the 49ers have surprised me more then I thought they would, but they're a lot like the Chargers; not getting it done. "Wouldacouldashouldadalmostalmostalmost" doesn't mean crap. It means you still lost, and you lost against defenses (New Orleans, Atlanta) that suck. Even the 49er defense has been lackluster and overrated, and boy are they in for a surprise this week. Seahawks were undefeated at home last year. Their offense is high powered and dangerous, innovative, and ... well it hasn't really been there yet this year. But it's gonna have to start now. Seahawks have played this same defense before and beaten it 3 times out of the last 2 years, they can do it again. Seattle's defense has been the biggest surprise this year, even for me. Sure, I knew they'd be better then last year, but I had no idea they'd be this explosive and dominating. New Orleans helped themselves lose, and Tampa Bay has no offense at all, but that doesn't mean the defense didn't help make those offenses look bad. Hawks go 3-0. 49ers 0, Seahawks 47.
Tampa Bay at Oakland - Oy, Chucky comes home. Chucky has a great defense. Chucky has no offense. Chucky will lose to his former (and better) team. Oakland's offense has opened up some very interesting pass plays. The deep ball is now a credible threat, even against good defenses. They're going to have to do a lot more to beat Tampa's really really good defense, but I think they can. Oakland's defense is better then Seattle's, and they're going to make mincemeat out of Brad Johnson and Chris Simms. Tampa Bay 3, Oakland 13.
Dallas at Washington - Note to Parcells, the Browns exposed every weakness you had last week on offense. I told you so, Bill, that your offense was overrated and putting your hopes in Vinny Testaverde was a bad idea. Yeah, you won, but you didn't win by a whole freakin' lot. Your rushing game is no better then Troy Hambrick, and your passin game is going to get covered way too much to be effective anymore. That means you'll lose, Bill. You hear me? Lose. Dallas defense is doing a fine job, as always, but they can't seem to stop high powered offenses. Washington is not a high powered offense. They have a great running back who is proving his worth and mettle, they have a decent set of WRs, and an effective offensive line. It's the quarterback that poses a problem. Brunell was doing fine, but not great. Ramsey is fine, but not great. Put Tim Hasselbeck in there! Fear the power of the potential to the Hasselbeck family name! What do you have to lose? Redskins defense has really been impressive thus far, a lot better then they were last year, but they have some injuries and might be slowed up a tad this week. Redskins at home? I think Gibbs knows how to, and will beat, Parcells. Cowboys 18, Redskins 22.
Buffalo, Carolina, New England, and the New Jersey Jets are off this week.
Phish = 0 - 16. I guarantee it.
Last week: 10 - 6.
Overall: 20 - 12.

Phish = 0 - 16. I guarantee it.

Well only went 8-8 this way making for for 19-13 on the season. Unacceptable ! I rebound this week.
New Orleans at. St. Louis - MAGIC MAN BROOKS CAN DO IT AGAIN !
Pittsburgh at Miami - No faith in Big Ben, Miami wins
Chicago at Minnesota - Culpepper bounces back in the Metrodome
Cleveland at NY Giants - Starting to believe in the G-Men and they win again here at home
Arizona at Atlanta - Cardinals can't stop Vick, period.
Baltimore at Cincinnati - Ravens crush Palmer, die Barrin
Philadelphia at Detroit - McNabb to Owens rolls on
Jacksonville at Tennessee - McNair tosses a bunch of TDs and Chris Brown shows he is for real against a tough Jax D
Houston at Kansas City - I won't pick the Chiefs again until they can prove they don't suck and that will be hard without Holmes
San Diego at Denver - Mile High is tough to play at and Quentin will rebound. Brees is still not the man
Green Bay at Indianapolis - Manning to Harrison lots and lots and lots, I need points this week to beat Rykilth
San Francisco at Seattle - Seattle wins this one at home because they always win at home of late; not to meantion the Niners aren't good
Tampa Bay at Oakland - Both teams suck but Oakland sucks less
Dallas at Washington - Gibbs and Portis rebound at home against Dallas

Week 2: 10-6. Overall: 20-12.
Week 3 picks:
New Orleans at. St. Louis - Key is turnovers here, and Bulger makes a lot more of those than Brooks. 27-13.
Pittsburgh at Miami - Two teams with shaky offenses combine in the 'Who cares outside of New England?' game of the week. Part of me wants to say the final will be 5-3, but a more realistic score is 13-6.
Chicago at Minnesota - I can see Culpepper throwing 60 times in this game. 41-24.
Cleveland at NY Giants - See what you get when you replace Kerry Collins with a QB? 24-16.
Arizona at Atlanta - Upset special of the week here, kiddies. 17-16.
Baltimore at Cincinnati - Baltimore offense just plain does not impress me. 34-14.
Philadelphia at Detroit - Gods, I'd love to see my Lions go 3-0. Logic dictates too much talent on the Philly side of the ball, though. 35-20.
Jacksonville at Tennessee - I think the window has closed in Tennessee. Too bad. 17-10.
Houston at Kansas City - No Priest + bad defense = long day for Gunther. 28-13.
San Diego at Denver - LT will finally bust out at Mile High, but it won't be enough. 21-17.
Green Bay at Indianapolis - Coin flip game of the week. Tails it is 31-28.
San Francisco at Seattle - Minor upset here. 19-14.
Tampa Bay at Oakland - Combined 350 yards of total offense here, 40 of it rushing. 9-7.
Dallas at Washington - Dallas is mediocre, Washington is flaky. Flaky means bad last week, better this week. 24-21.

So you helped pay off the refs and their phantom roughing the passer (led to 7 points), the phantom helmet to helmet shot (should have been off-setting at best) at least two phantom holds and a illegal motion on Tony Gonzolaz going.. uhm backwards.ZanypherCocoapuffs wrote:Wow, what a week I'm having so far. 10 - 1 including the amazing upset prediction of the Texans over the Chiefs. God I almost had it to the score too!
Let's just say the game ball for Houston goes to the ref'ing crew. Props for them getting the intentional grounding right in the second half but screwing up the first half play.
