That sounds dismissive and a bit "these uppity women just can't talk about rape rationally". I was honestly trying to have a serious conversation, and I felt your responses were just as emotion driven as anyone else's, especially when you went a bit hyperbolic there with the picture post. So, you're not really being the voice of pragmatism and logic. You just have a different point of view, but you deliver it with the same amount of "flourish" as the rest in the conversation.

This kind of gender disconnect used to happen all the time to us in our marriage:

1. She's really angry at something- something that has nothing remotely to do with me.
2. She wants me to share her anger, and to have empathy, so she explains her anger to me.
3. Me being the problem solver, I take that as a problem solving challenge, and I dive into the core issue and try to solve the problem that caused her to be angry. Makes sense to me.
4. She didn't want me to try to solve the problem.
5. She gets more angry, because to her it looks like I invalidated her anger.
6. We're now fighting, and all I did was try to help.
7. Now all that original anger is firmly directed at me, and I'm not super happy at that point either.
8. We go to our separate corners until we're both cooled down.

That doesn't happen to me anymore. The other night when the wife and daughter were all riled up, I just agreed "yeah, it's really fucked up", tried to make a couple jokes in poor taste, and went to my hidey hole to write blog posts.

... Thats pretty much my relationship with my wife to a T.

I got you all beat. I have two openly gay siblings, and I just found out the other day that both a brother and sister my daughter's age both are coming out as transgender at the same time. The universe has seen fit to keep my number of brothers and sisters static.
