Re: Skyrim
There's a few things I definitely don't love about the game, but many I do. The main plot hasn't really pulled me in, yet. Luckily it's Bethesda, so the rest of the world is keeping me busy. Love that they finally added dual wield, though I have to admit, going the rogue route of light armor and dual wield seems to be kinda weak. Dragons so far, have been kicking my ass all over the place. They seem to pop up at the worst times (including drawing several giants/mammoths to one fight) and get me killed.
I'm getting frustrated at two things in particular, too. It seems to never save my control changes. I'll set them and it'll be fine, but the next time I login, I have to reset it. Just annoying. Also, the journal system is annoying. They don't actually show any of the info the old ones would, what characters said, etc. it just shows what's active and where I go next to get to it. Kinda annoying.
I'm still more excited for the mods than anything with this game, so we'll see what the community can churn out.

Re: Skyrim
Is anyone else too fond of Lydia? I will reload a previous save if I kill her on accident during a fight (she keeps getting in the way!), even a boss fight. I don't like any of the other companion people!
ETA speaking of Lydia, could totally relate to this guy haha

Re: Skyrim
Anyone else doing The Companions quest line? Seems pretty interesting, granted I'm not too far into it. They seem to be the warrior guild... With an interesting twist. Very Nordic.

Lydia is in a abusive relationship with me
She's cute and I like her style, but for whatever reason the firebolt hits her almost every time. She's going to need therapy. That and my poor horsey. I'm a bad man.

I love the companion quest so far, the twist is fun! When I'm finished I'm either going to try to marry Farkas or gay marry Lydia.

Oh the poor horses in my game... I've tossed 2 over a waterfall and accidentally hacked countless others to pieces. You can get married in this, Harlowe?

You can't have Lydia. She's mine. And if anyone asks, she fell down.

Only lost my horse twice. Once due to the less then friendly control system. The other to a dragon 1 second after I dismounted.Xican wrote:Oh the poor horses in my game... I've tossed 2 over a waterfall and accidentally hacked countless others to pieces. You can get married in this, Harlowe?
As for Lydia I just keep her in the house. Never used a companion yet. I just like doing my sneak/bow thing. The game mechanics are silly enough that I haven't needed help in the 57 hours I have into the game. The boss has 13 of my arrows protruding from his back, chest and head and yet still mutters "I swear I heard something" and walks back to his static point once he gives up looking for me. Wash, rinse and repeat.
Guess I need to get her out of the house. Place is a mess.
P.S. I find myself going all "Walking Dead" with the undead creatures. Head shots just for fun.

Re: Skyrim
I've been doing the Sneak/Bow and Dual Wielding thing, too Kliban. At first I found it way underpowered, not having block. But once I got my light armor and one-handed weapons up, it became almost overpowered. Now I'm finding that with my archery skills climbing, I can easily 1 shot most minions and with any 'boss' by the time he reaches me, he is down to 1/3 health. I haven't used any companions either. Which has made those pesky dragons a pain at times. If I have someone to distract the dragon, I'm golden. If I'm on my own... Eh, that's 'nother story.

Re: Skyrim
I think the companion is just fun, kind of a buddy in game...especially when I had Lydia and my wardog, but they aren't particularly helpful when they run off and start attacking shit getting the whole area aggro.

Re: Skyrim
The companion is fun but useless as you guys have pointed out. Lydia is just house candy at this point and I'm not so sure that the horse isn't more trouble than it's worth. It's still amusing though. The missus frowned when I said "hey you wouldn't have a problem with me marrying Lydia, would you? Sister wives?"
I probably don't even 10 hours into the game so I'm still a newb. That will change with 5 days off though!
Class-wise I can't seem to make up my mind. I've put points into stealth/pickpocket/lockpick/destruction. I guess I'm a rogue-mage, Rawr!

Re: Skyrim
156 hours in. lvl 51.6. Decked out in Light Dragon armor. No idea how close I am to the end of the main quest. I picked up the Elder Scroll just for something to do while I waited for dinner. I have walked everywhere, only taking a horse when I wipe out an Imperial encampment. I still don't know why I can't killed the commanders of those encampments.
Just a plucking and a stabbing my way though. Still get excited when I find a new dungeon/mine/cave to go clear out. Girlfriend giving me worried looks when she sees me impaling someone with my daggers and lifting them into the air just to thump them back down to the ground. I think she would leave if she saw me decapitate someone.........hmmmmmm.

Re: Skyrim
I've been trying not to finish the talking dog quest, just because I like him traveling with me - even though he's an ass in dungeons (constantly barking and bumping you forward). I've only been fighting with my bow and then one dagger, keeps things interesting and still wearing my Nightingale armor I've upgraded. I like the look! =)
I haven't gotten as high as 50 yet, but I think I'm about level 46 or 47 - actually have forced myself to have some self-control and not log in for a couple nights (after staying up til 5am on a work night because I lost all track of time).
