Re: Iron Man
Finally saw it. I really enjoyed it. RDJ did awesome. I can't see anyone else in the role.
I'm in disagreement with Minute about Gwynneth, though. I think she sucked ass in the movie. Maybe I'm biased in that I want to slap the fuck out of her whenever she opens her mouth in an interview and she's an elitist snatch. I just felt she was blah in the role--down there with Katie whatsherface in Batman Returns.

Most of the roles I see Gwynneth in are just blah.. This one I loved as soon as she told of that reporter.

Re: Iron Man
But the fact remains that it was an execution scene. That it was implied rather then shown is only done to preserve the rating of the movie.
I stand by my comments that to truly grasp the gravity of the situation you have to see the evils of the bad guys to understand what makes the protagonist the hero. Children 5 years old do not have the comprehension to grasp all of that and I think it would be wrong to force it on them and without that context then it really is just violence for the sake of violence in their eyes and the evils of the media become true.

Re: Iron Man
I never seemed to have any difficulty understanding who the good guys and bad guys were when I was reading Iron Man comics as a kid. And the comics code never allowed them to show anything. The imagination can be a much stronger force than seeing it visually.Rsak wrote:But the fact remains that it was an execution scene. Re: Iron Man
I don't know much about how to raise children, but I don't see why this movie would be "bad" to show to a five year old. The first ten minutes were the only real parts I'd be concerned with in the child-watching regard. I don't know what Klast it talking about, but those guys (and one chick) in the beginning where obviously killed. The one in the back seat with him is bluntly shown getting shot when he gets out of the vehicle.

Out of all the parents I know, there aren't any that take 5 year olds to PG-13 movies - other than this 19 year old that is reeeally a piece of work. She see's nothing with bringing her kids to the local bar either.

Re: Iron Man
Parents who bring young children to movies are idiots. Yeah, bring your 2 year old to The Matrix and bounce him up and down your knee while he squeals in glee for EVERYONE to hear!

Drinking age is 21. Why is a 19 year old going to a bar?Harlowe wrote:Out of all the parents I know, there aren't any that take 5 year olds to PG-13 movies - other than this 19 year old that is reeeally a piece of work. She see's nothing with bringing her kids to the local bar either.

Harlowe and I are both from Minnesota. The powers that be here have banned smoking in bars.

Re: Iron Man
Are you kidding Klast? She's had a fake ID since she was at least 17. That's why she's a 19 year old mother of two.
She's a McFatty, I think she looks 30 minimum.
