Anyway VELIOUS SUCKED. Granted, it was still 10000x better than Luclin and PoP (and whatever came after that). But KUNARK 4 LYFE.
Luclin was tolerable just because there was so much content for every level bracket. PoP, however, ruined the fucking game, hands down.
I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my ass.

All credit to Velious for being a good expansion, but my heart is still with Kunark. I felt more immersed with Kunark than Velious. You could say Kunark brought the game to the height of success Velious enjoyed. Kunark climbed the steps for Velious to take all the credit at the top :P

Didn't they update like 90% of older items to have better stats anyway? It would feel kind of foolish gathering 20 people for a Phinny raid and then seeing anyone level 60+ come in and solo him. I guess that's what you were going for though...

Velious had way more raid content, and with the additional raid content, brought more item options. There were also a LOT more quests...Eyepatch of Plunder, the COldain Shawl and Ring events, the head quests...just to name a few. Hell, even the main Velious armor sets were all quests.

I loved Velious. It was the expansion where I went from a regular everyday raiding fool to a end game power player. CS, DN, ToV and WW are some of my all-time favorite zones. However, my two favorite zones and raid situations ever were Vex Thal and Ssra. There are several lesser zones in Luclin that I really liked, but they didn't compare to Velious, in my opinion. I think there were too many zones in Luclin and the content was not as deep as Velious. And I spent so much time in Ssra and VT that I really didn't spend more than a few hours exploring the other zones in the expansion. There was nothing to attract me, except for AoE p'lvling in Umbral and that underground zone that I can't think of the name and collecting shards for my VT key.

And there were way more big named mobs in Velious than Luclin. I think I've killed just about all the big names in both expansions.

If my memory serves me:

Velious:
- Kael: AoW, Vindi, Derakor, Tormax
- Thurg: King
- WW: all the named dragons
- ToV: named
- VL: Velketor
- DN: Zlandicar
- IO: Lodizal
- ST: handful of mobs, I didn't raid there much
- SS: Yelinak
- WL: Woushi

Luclin:
- Ssra: Emp and all the other named
- VT: Aten, other named
- Seru: Seru
- GE: Grieg

But I wasn't a quester, so I know there was way more quests available in Luclin.

You forgot in Luclin:

Ahkeva: Rockdude, Itraer Vius, Shei Venetras
Umbral Plains: 2 roaming named, IV looking guy, Rockdude at VT entrance
Katta Castellum: Katta and Nathan
The Deep: Burrower
Acrylia: Ring of Fire

Note: I'm not saying Luclin was better by any stretch of the imagination, and VT having a whole 4 mob models was kinda boring. Just saying you missed a bunch.

Oh, and my two favorite expansions were PoP and Velious. Only in that order because I caught the very end of Velious so missed all the beginning raiding stuff.

Only good though about Velious over PoP was no flags/keys that I can remember. Legacy of Ykesha was the best for sure. Drogmors (or whatever they were called) mother fuckers.

I guess if people are going by raid content and BIG mobs, Velious would be better. I missed out on that in my baby Iksar years so I go by immersion level and the mystery I felt while playing around in Kunark. I felt like an explorer... oh man, Warsliks Woods, tentatively moving down the path at level 19 only to have the shit scared out of me by a giant and go running back to Cab... or blindly through the woods.

Hmm..

Akheva: The Va'dyn
Umbral: Doomshade, Rumblecrush
Katta: That bard chick, can't remember her name.
Deep: THO
GE: Servitor of Luclin

There's plenty of mobs I could think of for fabled runs. :)
Make love? Fuck that, I'll make a slut cry. Fuck that, I'll make a slut cum nine times.

Every so often, I petition for them to destroy Luclin in EQ1 the way they did in EQ2. It would make my day.

Yep I forgot the zones you mentioned Dd. I remember the Va'Dyn in Akheva taking like 30 mintues to kill and nobody ever, I mean EVER died. And I never got to the end of the Ring of Fire. I only tried it a few times. I remember some people getting there, but I lost interest in it after like the third attempt. AoE'ing in AC was way more fun. Mad AA xp. I never did anything in Katta or SV. They took away the xp in kitty town a few weeks after it was exploited.

I dunno, maybe it was my new introduction to end game raiding in Velious, but I liked it significantly more than Luclin or Kunark. And getting the VT key is something I'd rather forget. Loved the zone, but the key was the worst time sink ever.

A thought just ocurred to me. I was with two different guilds in each expansion. I was a member of Elysian through most of Velious and non-guilded through most of Luclin. And I was definately at a more rapid pace during Luclin. I didn't have time to really stop and explore everything like Velious. I was raiding almost seven days a week. It wasn't until PoP that Alarius was up and running.

What's worse, Burzlaff? Faction or flags? Faction crap was a bitch in Velious if you did the armor stuff. I spent hours upon hours soloing Coldain in EW to get my Kael faction up.

You also forgot...
PoG: Tunare and whatever else is there with her
PoM: Bristlebane (Really just a prestige kill)
The king in Thurg was Dain Frostreaver...
There's the guy who drops Narandi's Lance in the ring event
Also in Kael some people would count the guy from the plate drop room.

Any Iksar, Froglok, Vah Shir, Drakkin, Gnome, Bard, Ranger, Paladin, or Berzerker you have can afford to be deleted...
