Re: Occupation /global revolution
I apologize, I did not see his post. So the end result was that you were wrongfully terminated, and there are no other jobs in your geographic area in your field? Ok. I will accept all of that as fact.
You can think of no way to remedy this situation on your own? I find that a bit difficult to swallow.
Also, for so called "bootstrapping" to be so rare there seems to be quite the high ration of "bootstrappers" in this particular community compared to the economically downtrodden. Just saying.
I am very much pro social programs to help folks get a hand up in an unfair world but just because something is "hard" does not mean you need that hand up. You need the hand up when it is impossible.

I suspect this particular community is actually quite aligned with the personality types that are more socially mobile than others. Probably a PhD in that for someone.

I answered this to Kulaf earlierMeGusta wrote:You can think of no way to remedy this situation on your own? I find that a bit difficult to swallow.

So, social programs for the extreme last resort. I wonder if my case worker at the employment office/DHS would agree with that? Probably not. Every time I go and see them, I'm met with sympathy and compassion. Maybe it's just part of their job description? They above all people understand what's going on. They are exposed to the reality of it every day. On the flipside, when I bring this shit to the internet - it's always the opposite. Political and social conservatism that ends up stretching out to the point of dogmatic belief.MeGusta wrote:Also, for so called "bootstrapping" to be so rare there seems to be quite the high ration of "bootstrappers" in this particular community compared to the economically downtrodden. That being said, I'm eternally thankful to the social programs that have allowed me to experience a semi-first world standard of living. As fucking ragingly angry I am at the system, I feel a shred of hope every time I talk to the people who are employed by these 'social programs'.
Speaking of the evils of socialism/giving people stuff for free: I'm currently in a lottery/waiting list for a state health/dental insurance plan! (OHP) Woohoo!!!! Oh wait, maybe I shouldn't get my shit fixed. I don't want to be a tax-sponge freeloader

You assume too much, sir. Just because I am not overly excited about programs as they exist today does not mean I am a social conservative. I think most current social programs are poorly designed. I think this is a result of the broken system we have. I am a believer in helping when it makes sense to help, guiding when it makes sense to guide, and getting out of the way when it is possible. So, social programs for the extreme last resort. Of the top five countries with internet use, only one is the US. China leads the pack, followed by the US, then India, Japan and Brazil.

I'm not sure raw numbers really proves anything here. The US is #16 for internet use by percentage, when you ignore nations below a million people because they just skew the crap out of it.Embar Angylwrath wrote:Uhhh...no. 1. Norway 97%
2. Sweden 93%
3. Australia 90%
4. Netherlands 90%
5. Denmark 89%
6. Finland 89%
7. New Zealand 85%
8. Switzerland 84%
9. United Kingdom 84%
10. South Korea 83%
11. Germany 83%
12. Canada 82%
13. Belgium 81%
14. Japan 80%
15. Slovakia 79%
16. United States 78%
17. Estonia 78%
18. Singapore 77%
19. France 77%
20. Austria 75%
I'm not sure that proves anything either because connection doesn't imply much.
