1. Not anything posted here would be slander. Slander is spoken, libel is printed.

2. To be considered libel, a statement must be found to be untrue.

3. After proven untrue by a preponderance of the evidence, a libelous statement must be proven to have been done with deliberate malicious intent, and not simply for satirical purposes. (See Fallwell Vs. Flynt.) It also, usually, must come from a source that would be believed, otherwise no actual harm can be found to have been done to the person's reputation. (The National Enquirer is right around that fine line -- some people believe that shit, and the Enquirer has lost some lawsuits in the past. Mad Magazine and Saturday Night Live are bulletproof.)

4. The real kicker: AFTER a court has found that the victim has been libeled by all the criteria above, the victim must prove ACTUAL MONETARY DAMAGES resulting DIRECTLY FROM this damage to their reputation. Punitive damages aside (which are rare in libel cases,) these actual damages, plus court costs and attorney fees, are what the plaintiff wins. Thus the famous cases where a libel plaintiff wins, and the jury awards something like a dollar, simply on principal.

To my knowledge, there has never been a successful libel suit based on something published on the Internet. I've been threatened with them (let alone multitudinous RL asskickings) myself more times than I can count over the past couple decades. I laugh when threatened with either, and continue on my merry way with the designated humiliatee.

If I'm wrong on any points 1 through 4, I hope Thoric will correct me.

I wasn’t able to play last night, anyone know if this asshat decided to show its face last night? If so I sure hope it was “hassased” in OOC. I know what happens on the board is supposed to stay on the board, but I think this case is special, especially since the asshat took it to RL already.

And ya, that was a pretty funny typo, especially since I live in Virginia.

There isnt, I got breezey with only 12 aa's she is now up to 233 (catching nadia) hehe.. I have Grouped with some of the best players in the game Nadia, , heck I helped flag her pally for BOT tassa.. I dont mean to named drop , but i have been nothign but good to you all, but yes I have slipped up time to time, but havent we all?

I do not care what you have or have not done, or if you change your name or not. You could not possibly compare yourself to Nadia or even imply you have the aa's that she does on multiple characters. Anything you might have had to say was lost the minute you stated the above words. Nadia is one of the greatest players I have ever had the good fortune to know and group with, and you are really full of yourself if you think can even come close to the person/player Nadia is.

ANY sympathy you may have garnered from anyone faded the moment you tried this tactic.
