Nah, it's actually to get around minimum charges for credit card processing and also to internationalize the points (points have a fixed value but can be bought in your local currency). Always fun to figure out which currency is best for buying points in...

That's a good idea, but I'm pretty sure MS points are region coded. :/

They aren't (I kept mine going from the US to Oz), but you need to buy them in the same region as the billing address on your credit card. If you have a selection of billing addresses in different countries (which is easier than it sounds) then you can go shopping.

Have you figured out which region is the cheapest? :p
Good overall expansion? Worthwhile? Let the masses know Burz!

I beat it in 15 hours. Cost 40 dollars. But the story line lends it to at least 1 to 2 more play throughs because of some either defend this city or this other place decisions (defend one, the other gets wipes out) and take this guy as an ally or kill him type stuff. The end fight posed a slightly more difficult challenge than the original game's if only because of the constant zerg attacks of additional enemies that spawn on top of you (they all have the ability to do overwhelm attack).
I only had 1 of my previous characters return (the dwarf). No one else returns to the party - not even the dog - unless I missed something.
Loot and coin are abundant (so much so that I bought all the high priced merchant stuff and still had 600gold at the finale on my character that didn't do the Red Cliff exploit). DLC from previous game is broken as shit (on PC at least). If you import and was equiped it will not show up. Also there is a main plot quest where you get kidnapped and your armor is taken. If DLC stuff was equiped then it will also be lost. All inventory/coin is carried over, so I assume you can put DLC in inventory or maybe better in the bank like chest thing since there is one of those at your Keep (aka camp). So if you do use DLC armor and weapons make sure you have backup save spots (even though I would have ended up replacing most of mine by the end of the campaign anyways). Armor enchantment is pretty cool, but the variety sucks. The added specializations and skills are pretty cool though.
In my opinion it should have been 29.99 as opposed to 39.99. Also in the epilogue they open it wide up for yet another expansion in Antiva. Although I may have only gotten those passages about my warden disappearing there because of the original game's steamy romance with . However, I would rather see Orlais in a next possible expansion.
I still haven't beaten the original game. I'm at the Landsmeet part, currently. But I took a lot of time off of playing and only started again recently. I'm torn because I'd like to jump into the expansion and yet I'd also love to start all over with a different character and re-experience the initial release, too.

Ridiculous amount of spoilers ahead. If you haven't been the game, don't read on.
So, I just finished the game (sans x-pack) and I can't help but be disappointed. The whole thing with Morigan was lame. The way all of the companions just virtually disappeared was weak. I just can't find anything about the ending I enjoyed. It all seemed really lack-luster.
One thing troubled me more than anything about this game: It lacked variance. Whether you're recruiting dwarves, Elves, or saving Magi, you always had more-or-less the same challenges. There wasn't much side-questing aside from your typical 'go here, kill this, return with this' type crap. I think this game would've been a lot better had they fleshed out a world you could travel around in, more like Oblivion.
Dunno. Overall, I feel like this was an 'okay' game, but isn't deserving of the success it has had. I'm torn on even getting the expansion, now.
