Election 2016
Tossing up a poll for old times' sake. Vote on who you think will win. Add on a comment to say who you'd *like* to win (which is a totally different thing).

Re: Election 2016
Myself, I can't get too enthusiastic about anyone. I think the GOP will end up choosing someone deeply flawed (not that they have many that aren't) and the Dems will choose Hillary. I just can't see anyone on the GOP side being able to hold together a tight enough voting bloc to bring her down, assuming she runs the effective campaign that she should be able to.
What I'm most curious about is how Trump will explode and pull out prior to the end.

Re: Election 2016
In an ideal world, you get a Sanders. In a practical world, you get a Clinton who can help keep the Democratic bloc together much better than an Independent, which is what Sanders has always been. And since it's likely that two or maybe three SC justices are on the line along with Obamacare, I've got to go with Clinton here.

Re: Election 2016
I voted with my heart instead of my brain. At first I thought that Sanders did not stand any chance but he surprised me by making Iowa a tie. Maybe he will be able to run the long game against Hillary like Obama did and pull out a win for the nomination but it probably won't happen. Sanders is really far left but Hillary is super polarizing so I think it might be a wash as to who would fare better in the general election. Looking at the insane things that Republicans are putting forward, I think a Democrat is going to win regardless of who it is.

Unfortutely, you will likely see Hilary win on the sole issue of being the first woman president. This is why I wanted a viable conservative female to run, but that did not happen.
Of all those on the list, I would rather see Sanders because Trump would be an embarrassment to the office.

Re: Election 2016
Sanders (Independent) is technically a 3rd party candidate. Just like Ron Paul (Libertarian) was, though he ran as a Republican.

A couple months late to the party, but it's pretty much the hot mess everyone though it would be. It's such a hot mess, Kulaf and I agree.Kulaf wrote:Unfortutely, you will likely see Hilary win on the sole issue of being the first woman president. I didn't want Hillary in 2008, I don't really want her in 2016 either - but if the choice is Trump, Cruz or Hillary...yeah, I'll go with her over a religious zealot or an embarrassing child. I do really like Bernie, even if he leans far left of me, he's a true public servant and a decent guy. I just don't think he can pull it off, more like...close but no cigar.
There are too many in power within the DNCC that see him as a progressive interloper that's just trolling their anointed candidate. From the beginning it's felt like "it's her turn" within the party, and she's going to get it. Unlike Obama (who wasn't coming in from the outside), Sanders is going to be cock-blocked at every turn, so I don't see how it's possible for him to pull-off the same thing Obama did to Hillary. Obama was given the assistance, attention and space to duke it out with her.

Well, I was wrong about Trump exploding.
I still think Clinton will deliver a landslide against him, but that's from the guy who thought Jeb would get the GOP nomination.

Having said that, Clinton's adventures with classified email servers in her bathroom could throw all sorts of interesting misadventures in between here and November.
