The MSE site downloads a tiny installer that then downloads whatever version your OS is. Are you trying to find an offline installer?

This makes me believe they only do 64bit if you have an AMD processor, but here's the link from their website: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=5201

"amd64" is the one you want. It's called that for historical reasons (AMD were the ones who invented the 64 bit x86 architecture).

Well then, that would explain the AMD bit quite well.

Win8 has it built in. Which version are you using?

I quit using AVG about a year ago, it no longer seemed to be a useful security tool. Massively wasted resources, and yeah, spammed me, iirc. Switched to Avast - anything but AVG or NortonAV.

Norton is an excellent product. When was the last time you used it.....10 years ago? ;p

Less than a year ago. I had to turn the computer on and leave it alone to let Norton fail to complete its boot scan for about two hours, and cancel it unfinished any time I wanted to use it.

Norton has been continuous ribbon of impacted anal gland secretions since right about Windows 95. Fuck em.

I agree with Arathena...Avast is way smoother to run than AVG and without Nortons price tag 8)
