Hey John Boehner my balls are dry again!

Post by Torakus »

What a douche nozzle. I get to go into work for a couple hours tomorrow to shut it down. Meanwhile Boehner and the other 200+ millionaires who just put me out of work for who knows how long get to keep getting paid to make political points that could have been made months ago. Oh well, I hope the dipshits in the Tea Party are ready for the political fallout from this. I am sure they are banking on the next election cycle being far enough away that it won't hurt too much.

Personally, I think they are so afraid of the political capital that is to be gained if the ACA ends up being successful, that they are willing to scorch the earth trying to get rid of it.

The problem for them is that they have done nothing but tarnish their brand for the past 5 years. So regardless of the outcome of ACA, they've made themselves look like petulant, selfish children that have zero interest in the people they represent, unless we're talking about the "Companies that are People" like the Koch Bros and their political groups.

Well, you can register to vote when you fill out an ACA insurance application.

Just throwin' that out there.... :)

Funny you should mention that I just re-registered since I moved in May and while I was at it I looked up my current health care just to make sure that it qualifies and I actually double qualify. My health care plan that I get through my military retirement ($45.00 / month) qualifies as does my more expensive secondary coverage through FEHC.

I like the idea of providing more modes of voter registration than just the county clerk, DMV or registration drives. One would think that a lot of folks who don't normally vote because 1) they don't drive or 2) they live in a neighborhood too damn scary for voter registration drives will nevertheless have this option; though if either of the previous apply what are the odds that they will have internet access?

I agree and it isn't just the Tea Party. The GOP is letting this small splinter group of bat shit crazy assholes take them down. I can't even imagine how deep they are going to have to dig to field a viable Presidential candidate in 2016. I think the scorched earth policy they are following is definitely in recognition that they have fucked it so bad that the 20 or so seats the Democrats need to gain control of the House are a pretty safe lock now. It is funny that back in November of 2012 everyone predicted that the 2014 mid terms would remain in favor of the Republicans and that the political climate would be either neutral or GOP friendly. I think the GOP decided that was carte blanche to act the fool during FY 2013. I could be wrong though. I have been predicting that the good people of Minnesota will rid themselves of that brainless turd Bachmann for years, but they keep on putting her back in D.C.; proving that you can't fix stupid.

The point of no-return kind of goes back to that moronic Williamsburg Accord they all pledged to after Obama won a second term.

I agree with this - "Under the leadership of Speaker John Boehner, the 113th Congress -- and the House of Representatives in particular -- is a complete and total train wreck.... And he is, ultimately, the guy in charge of the worst-performing part of one of the worst-performing Congresses in history"

"Our goal here is to cut spending. It's not to shut down the government," Boehner said. "I believe that trying to put Obamacare on this vehicle risks shutting down the government. That's not what our goal is."

I pasted that into an e-mail to him today asking for his staff to respond with what the hell their goal is now since what isn't their goal is our reality. I don't expect a response, but sending them long tedious e-mails pointing out their inconsistency makes me feel a little better =)

House has adjourned for the day which means I can go back to work no earlier than October 3rd so I am out 2 days salary so far ($968.00 and counting).

Well, the Republicans ran on a platform of causing government to stop functioning and won the house by negative half a million votes. Inflicting the government shutdown was plan A, B, C, D, E, G, H, I, J, K and Z. They have no interest in governing as the opposition, as it goes against their core "principle" of feudalism. This shitstew has been on slow boil since the god damned Articles of Confederation failed hideously, we only changed the names of the factions.

It sounds like 15-18 Republicans have jumped ship, at least enough to get a clean bill passed, but Boehner isn't letting them vote on it.

Yep. At one point the Democrats lined up to make motions to table the nonsense they were doing and bring the clean CR to a vote but the Speaker pro tempore (since douche nozzle Boehner has not showed up on the floor for 2 days now) shouted them all down in turn. Made me want to fly out to D.C. and fist him in his pee hole (but I resisted the urge....tough to make it fit into my current no pay check budget). Essentially the Speaker was shouting them down with a rule that lets the majority refuse to take action on joint resolution while it is still in committee. Definitely a rule that needs to be looked at after this. A JR returned by the Senate should go to the floor for immediate action.

I think I may be dedicating a lot of my personal time toward some type of activism that will get rid of this Tea Party plague. Before this I thought they were just a pain in the ass. Now I think they are very dangerous.

It's frustrating. If we let a group like the Tea Party have this much power, if we give into it, it's never going to end. And the people of this country and our economy are just pawns in the whole shitty Game of Thrones. The thing is the Tea Party is very, very well funded. The Koch bros have so much insidious power in this country it's truly frightening.

Second only to the creation of the Tea Party (which was a brilliant play by the Koch Bros, look at all the damage they've done), is Citizens United.

Hrhmmm, I emailed John Boehner, too.

I bet he has some poor, unpaid intern watching the inbox, who's been instructed to "DELETE" everything with certain key words in it.

It's absolutely infuriating when the votes are there to put through clean funding, but the Speaker can just fucking ignore it.

One of my favorite comments today ...
The American people would get better government out of Monkey Island at the local zoo than we're giving them today," said Rep. John Dingell of Michigan.
The CEO of Goldman Sachs, summed it up pretty succinctly -
"You can re-litigate these policy issues in a political forum, but we shouldn't use threats of causing the U.S. to fail on its obligations to repay its debt as a cudgel," Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs, said after the meeting.
And like Obama himself said ..
"If we get in the habit where a few folks, an extremist wing of one party, whether it's Democrat or Republican, are allowed to extort concessions based on a threat (to) undermine the full faith and credit of the United States, then any president who comes after me, not just me, will find themselves unable to govern effectively," he said.

My congressman is actually being primaried from the left at this point. I'm trying to decide if it'll be worth it to phone bank for him in the primary in addition to whoever the Democratic candidate is.

Remember, guys, since there wasn't a hard stop that told the soldiers and border guards to go home, what we're seeing right now from the government is the (almost) ultimate goal of the Tea Party in particular, and the Republican party in general. No EPA, no FDA, no DoEd, no DoE, no NASA, no NOAA, no DoLabor - all they need to do is kill that pesky Social Security program off, and they have their paradise, for as long as they can forstall the adults.

Should just stop paying all government contracts until a clean budget comes through. Push the pain to the private sector and watch how fast the idiots come to their senses.

The way government contracts get paid is wierd. However, a lot of contractors are already feeling the first effects. We already had to cancel one discussion with ARDEC over future plans because of this shit.

Not that I wish any personal hurt towards you Tora, but you DO work for the TSA. Which almost by definition, is non-essential. Maybe use this opportunity to find another line of work that actually provides value somewhere?

Actually my line of work is OSH management. So if you consider that the OSH program that I manage for 101 field units (just under 1/4th of all TSA airports) has an injury rate a third that of our industry counterpart and one of the lowest OWCP chargeback totals for non-office workers in the federal government, I guess you could say my work has value to you in the form of savings to the taxpayer.

I am most definitely looking for work outside the government. I love what I do and do not mind who I work for, but I am sick to death of the Tea Baggers holding my pay check hostage.

And I don't want to wish any personal hurt towards you either, but you can assist Boehner in moistening my nut sack.

I don't know where you are geographically, Tora. And I assume OSH management means occupational health and safety. If my understanding of your use of OSH is correct, then there are quite a few of those positions open in the bio-pharmaceutical sector. Clusters of that industry are located in San Diego, San Jose/San Francisco, New England, and the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill golden triangle. I see those positions also open in universities, I think UConn has one open right now. I must get 2-3 notifications of those open positions crossing my desk every week or so, however many are ESH instead of simply occupational.

If you want me to send those notifications to you, pm me.

As far as salivating on Boehner's kiwi, I'm in the private sector. We don't do that here. The private sector is more of a tongue on the balloon knot kinda place.
