While I am sure the number of fighters supporting that position has grown as SA and other countries have sent aid, I have my doubts they are in any way moderating the overall tone of the opposition forces.John Kerry wrote:has increasingly become more defined by its moderation, more defined by the breadth of its membership, and more defined by its adherence to some, you know, democratic process and to an all-inclusive, minority-protecting constitution.

Is John Kerry fibbing?
I have some issue with the following statement before Congress about the armed opposition in Syria:

Re: Is John Kerry fibbing?
I think the briefings from his own department contradict what he is saying. Which is what some Senators are complaining about.

I know, you have briefings (like you said, from your OWN dept) that contradict what you are saying, and he just sounds completely full of shit to me. The way he is painting the rebels is just too over-the-top and convenient.

Re: Is John Kerry fibbing?
I've seen a lot of the viral videos of the FSA (and SAA) performing summary executions and beheadings. And not just a quick heavy sword to the neck, either. They literally saw a prisoner's head off with a knife. Barbaric and brutal.
Kerry is full of shit, and he's trying to throw sugar on a shit sammich the Admin wants the American population to swallow.

Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Re: Is John Kerry fibbing?
I'm just livid about Kerry, Obama too if he still takes action after Congress fails to pass the resolution. I don't want to hear jack-shit that he has to say on Tuesday when he tries to sell us this steaming pile of crap. With the NSA business so fresh, I don't trust a damn thing that comes out of any of their mouths and I honestly still feel like this is some pretext to go after Iran ultimately and little to do with Syria.
It's complete bullshit.

Re: Is John Kerry fibbing?
On an amusing note - I was booted (and all my comments were deleted) from a liberal Facebook page because I didn't agree with military involvement in Syria and posted links to information on the rebels - no not to the barbaric videos.
People that lock-step annoy me. If we can't have a "general" political ideology and yet still be free-thinkers what is the fucking point in talking at all - just make it Liberal Circle Jerk Corner, parrot the Administration and only allow the comment "oh yah, I agree with that".

In other news, the NSA has been increasingly defined by its restraint and love of personal privacy while the CIA increasingly demonstrated a fanatical commitment to due process.

Excellent article from the Atlantic. Couldn't agree more.
He puts it very succinctly when he calls up the image of the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor, and then says the Admin would see that as the Japanese destroying infrastructure, not an act of war.

I have to echo the same sentiment, I couldn't agree more. To paint what they want to do as anything other than an act of war is absurd.

It's refreshing to learn that the Brits were the actually the aggressors in WW2 also. After all, the Nazis only flew some rockets and bombers across the channel.

Re: Is John Kerry fibbing?
Seems to be a consensus on this board then about the irrationality of the Admin's course to war with Syria (Iran).
I wonder why Partha and Lurker have been silent on this issue. I would be interested in their thoughts, since they occupy the far left, Harlowe and Dd in the middle, and myself, Kulaf and Torakus on the conservative side. We're missing their side of it.

I am only slightly right of center. While I am a fiscal conservative, I tend to be more liberal on social issues. Lurker has not posted in a long time. I am sure Partha will wander in at some point.

Yeah, Lurker hasn't been around at all. He kind of comes around for a bit then is gone for quite awhile.

Re: Is John Kerry fibbing?
I share the same stance as you, at least in my mind. I hate spending money, especially if its my money and they keep asking for more of it. But I don't give a rat's ass what you put in your body, as long as you respect mine. Don't care who you fuck, as long as it's consensual. Don't care what you believe, as long as it doesn't interfere with me.Kulaf wrote:I am only slightly right of center. While I am a fiscal conservative, I tend to be more liberal on social issues. Yeah, I wonder where Lurker went. Hope he's ok.
