Pacific Rim
Cheese
Good Cheese
Awesome, Pizza with extra cheese...Cheese.
There is no need for anyone to tell anyone to "just go with it". Its a giant monsters vrs Giant Robots movie. It's implied!
But here's the thing. The Acting is good, and the plot is good(if not recycled...ok, its recycled, but done well).
And like Man of steel, the disaster porn is euphoric. And no need to show the populous of earth that the robots are on our side.
It was better than I thought it would be.

Re: Pacific Rim
I really wanted to like it, but after the first few fights, I really wanted to nap through the rest. The borg dinosaurs were less interesting than old school Godzilla.

I enjoyed it, but it certainly could have been better. Some of the cool robots could have had more backstory and be used more. And while the monsters could have been more diverse, they at least explained why they were not.

I haven't seen it, but from the reviews I'm guessing it will surprise me. Which won't be hard to do, because all of the trailers have left me with no real desire to see it. I pretty much intend for this to be a Redbox though. Not a trip to the theater.

Re: Pacific Rim
It kind of felt like an Independence Day/Transformers mash up - so expect your typical end-of-world cheesy dialogue, motivational speeches and antagonists-become-teammates-and-learn-to-respect-one-another type activity. I was bummed the cool alien shit was so minimal. If this does well enough to garner a sequel, I'm hoping there is an equal amount of alien activity/interaction as there are borg-dinosaurs.

Really. In the last 6 weeks I have been bombarded with trailers, shorts and advertisements for this movie but at no point in that time did they even mention an actors name.
Charlie Hunnam. Holy crap! A damn fine actor. Just a splash screen "Sons of Anarchy's" Charlie Hunnam as......." would have sold me but this movie looks to me to just be selling itself with the FXs.

Mal: Seems we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?
Zoe: Big damn heroes, sir.
Mal: Ain't we just.

It's a movie about giant robots fighing giant monsters.
Did anyone really care that Raymond Burr was in the first Godzilla movie? I sure didn't.

I loved it! It's not going to change your life or anything, but the Fx were worth it for me. I saw non-3D and our theater was packed. I'd recommend seeing this in theaters versus waiting for release if you ever plan on watching it. I'm a sucker for Apocalypse movies, and this was right up my ally.

Yeah, I want to see it. I need to figure out a time to go. Husband is dragging his feet, so it might be a deal where the kid goes to grandma's during the day and I go see Pacific Rim by my dang-self.
