Couldn't agree more, and those dynamics favor the right, which has a more energized and solidified base than the left. While Obama is having to play catch-up here, and work to get out the vote in his base, Romney can spend a little more time working the independents. The electorate is deeply divided and polarized, which makes 2012 look increasingly like a base election. Whoever runs up their vote count among their core supporters is likely to prevail, which is why these numbers are so significant.
New polls are coming out suggesting that debate really shifted momentum in the swing states to Romney. I never thought the debate would shift the numbers like that. I thought Romney would get a small bounce with his base, which was already energized, but I didn't think it would move swing voters that much. I didn't think Obama would both lose base and lose independents. Too early to tell right now, but the election just may have turned on that debate.
Next up! Say it ain't so Joe. So weird that the left's chances at the White House may now be in Biden's hands. That's got to cause a lot of heartburn and liquid bowels in the left.
