Colorado forest fires can suck it.

One near Colorado Springs is 3 miles from where my dad lives (in Woodland Park). He's been evacuated. I'm just so sick of this bullshit. Rain already.

I hope those fires get put out and your dad's house is OK. The wife has a few friends and family there in CO she's been getting updates from on the fires. And speaking of rain, last week (or week before?) all our relatives in Duluth got so much rain the whole town was under water. Some of the animals at the zoo drowned. So it seems like everyone we know is burning, baking or drowning. Whoever made Jesus angry, please stop it. It's been mostly rainy here in the Northwest pretty much all year.

Yeah, seriously. It's already ruined my plans for July 4th next week. My Grandpa's house in Colorado Spring (Manitou Springs) is very close to burning down. My family's house near Rico, CO is experience the same thing. You can easily smell smoke in downtown Denver. Pretty scary stuff...

I have friends in CO and loads of relatives in Duluth. I think the Duluthians got off far better than those in Colorado though. Water in the basements and some sink holes and torn up streets = can be repaired. The zoo situation in Duluth was really sad. It's kind of a sad little zoo if you ask me anyway, Duluth really doesn't have a shit-ton of money to invest in it and it doesn't rake in the cash either. But a wall of fire eating your neighborhood, not to mention all the shit in the air = Colorado is the new Mordor.

Well, things seem to be getting better. The Co. Springs and FoCo fires are not quite so aggressive. Not yesterday or the day before. My dad's house still stands. The fire there doesn't seem to be moving toward Woodland Park (where he lives). So, keeping my fingers crossed there.

The High Park fire (near us) is 85% contained and they predict to have it fully contained by this weekend. But, we have a 100 degree day for Saturday, so I hope that doesn't change things in a bad way. We had a little rain yesterday. Yay!

Harlowe, where do your friends live in CO? I hope they're okay. Sorry about your relatives in Duluth. I hope all is well there.

In Duluth, one of my cousins still doesn't have power and is worried that his house will end up being condemned - apprently that's happened around him. Otherwise the rest of my relatives seem to be recovering from it well - just some water damage that they've gotten mostly cleared out. No sink holes around them at least!
