Oh shit. That was fucking awesome. The Battle of the Blackwater had to be one of the best battle sequences that I've seen in any television show (and many movies as well).

Indeed! I actually watched it twice yesterday. I like how everyone starts to show their true colors at the face of death. I especially liked the drunk ramblings of the Queen.

I'm torn on the Red Wedding. It would be cool to have both weddings overlaid onto each other. Show one scene from the Tully wedding and another from Joff's wedding. But, then again, it would be nice to see someone get his comeuppance a short while after the Red Wedding hits.
I've heard that season 3 will likely end with the Red Wedding. Ugh. Talk about a downer, unless they also end with Dany burning shit up in the east, too.
The red wedding was a downer to read, but I sure the fuck remembered it, where my memory is a little fuzzy on other parts of the story. That's one of the main things that stands out in my mind. Ned Stark, red wedding, and uh, spoiler stuff from Dance. Something about dragons...
Some TV reporter went off on a rant about that in the 90's. Bill Press I think? Anyway, they showed Conan the barbarian uncut on network TV and everyone called in to complain about the titties, but nobody complained about the violence. This guy really went off, alternating clips of titties and the guy's head getting chopped off, and calling everyone bad parents, which of course got complaints itself and I believe even led to him being fired.

LOVED THAT MOMENT! I'm about 80% through the third book - I started it a couple days ago and can't put it down, it's just THAT FREAKIN GOOD. This third book is quite a bit different than what has been in the show. I don't mean things not covered and they do get the primary story arcs okay, but they get there in an entirely different way - even completely changing/adding characters some people dying when they don't in the book (wonder where the hell they are going with that and hopefully the character is not too involved or gets killed off soon, because story continuity in the show will suffer).
Anyway, to some spoiler stuff....

What a rollercoaster, I'm thrilled Joffrey is dead, but you only get to enjoy that for like 2 seconds. My revulsion for Cersei is as strong as Joffrey at this point in the story, which I understand is going to get worse. I said something about it out-loud and my guy says ..."you haven't read A Feast for Crows, you don't hate Cersei yet". I'm like crap, she's going to be stupid isn't she....like have the only tactical brains in the family killed (like Tywin & Tyrion) just because she's peeved about potentially getting married off again and thinks Tyrion killed Joffrey
I don't know why I didn't read all of these sooner, they are amazingly good! I'm about 40% into A Feast for Crows and so far, I don't get what the whining was about. I've heard a lot of grumbling about all the new characters introduced and it being confusing, so I was ready for it and was pleasantly surprised that so far, there really aren't THAT many new characters. We're talking about going deeper into House Greyjoy (not that many) and then the whole Dorne area, which again, isn't that many characters. Are people just pissy that there is hardly any Jon Snow, Arya or Sansa? I'm really enjoying this book, of course it's no A Storm of Swords (how do you top that one really), but it's still really good.
I'm definitely enjoying the Asha storyline and the Sand Snakes!
