The Pot Heads are marching tomorrow!

It seems the medical marijuana crowd is going to march tomorrow to protest federal involvement in the issue. Some time around noon they plan to gather up in front of City Hall here in San Francisco and March up the street to protest in front of the federal building. I hope they don't get side tracked with the munchies at any of the thousand Asian joints along the block and a half of Larkin between City Hall and the federal building. Should be an interesting protest, but I will probably miss it since my office has no windows and I usually just work through lunch in order to get a jump on the daily exodus to the east bay.

Frankly I think the Fed should get out of the business of trumping State issues like this, but for every person I see who medical marijuana maybe helps, there are probably a hundred abusing it.

I personally think it should be treated like alcohol and the states should decide. The war on drugs is an utter failure.

I agree with Harlowe, the money spent trying to fight such a useless battle could be better spent elsewhere on much more needed programs or projects like our crumbling infrastructure. The time old excuse that pot is a gateway drug is a bunch of crap. For every person that finds something against the legalization of pot..there is more evidence that pot has more benefits.

I can't tell you the last time I seen a pothead start a barfight...lol

We all self-medicate. We've been doing it since we were fruit flies. If it isn't alcohol, its herb, opiates, meth, or for those of you that think you're super healthy (and you probably really are), its exercise-induced endorphins. Harlowe may be able to attest to this as a runner... but have you ever watched someone who exercises regulary stop for few days? They exhibit withdrawal symptoms that are very similar to minor drug-related withdrawal symptoms. Irritability, can't sleep, mood swings, change in appetite, etc.

The war on drugs is pushed by outdated Puritan Judeao-Christian idealogies, pharmaceutical companies, and politicians beholding to both.

Too bad too, because I bet if Jesus were alive today, he'd smoke a bowl with the Apostles before the last dinner, and probably eat poppy heads before he was nailed to the cross.

I have definitely used running (or exercise in general) to self-medicate to some degree. Either it pulls me out of a funk (which I am prone to seasonally) or gives me a positive-high that pretty much lasts all day.

So I definitely feel anxious and/or down when I don't exercise for awhile.

I don't even know anyone who is against it. Even the old ultra conservative white pricks @ work think it should be legalized. The fiscal benefits alone are astounding.
