Re: BUILD
No. It looks cool. I used to live in Anaheim so my employers would send us to all these kinds of things. Microsoft always gave out some nice swag too and a free meal lol.

Re: BUILD
I hope you gave them tickets and/or an allowance to go to Mouseland. We usually do that for people that visit our main office. You can't be a few miles from the place and not go there if you've never been.
Hmmm I'm not so sure I've ever seen the compelling need for a tablet. I type about 120 WPM and I'm not sure what I could do without the tactile feedback of a keyboard. Plus, I don't like fingerprints on my monitor. Maybe I'm just old but attach a keyboard to my tablet and let's just call it a netbook. But I don't see what a tablet gives me that I haven't had since the late 80's. Small form factor computing, wow that's original.
I may change my mind though if you gave me a dual core Windows tablet with a kickstand and a bluetooth keyboard. And I guess a soft cloth and cleaning fluid lol.
Really, I'm not sure how much all this matters when everything is virtualized. The difference between an Apple or Microsoft tablet someday might just be what virtual machine you run. Let people run whatever the fuck they want to run, as long as everything is open and interchangeable.
I've always looked at hardware with all the fascination of a toaster. The magic to me has always been the software. So I hope someday it's just a matter of what "skin" you want to run on top of that.

Re: BUILD
Specs on the tablet were Core i5, 4G of RAM, 64G SSD, 11.1" screen (1388x768), stand/dock with dual HDMI out (so will drive a couple of 30" monitors if you want) and Bluetooth keyboard. Touch was either multitouch or stylus. Runs all the current Windows apps as well. That's a seriously awesome piece of kit IMO to give away to all 5000 attendees.Freecare Spiritwise wrote:I hope you gave them tickets and/or an allowance to go to Mouseland. Nah, didn't give them tickets to Mouseland. Figured flights and accommodation was enough from Oz. They're taking 3 more weeks vacation anyway, which is good because it's a pain to get them to actually take time off otherwise - they apparently love working too much.
If you're interested in the sessions, this is sweet: http://sharpfellows.com/post/Downloadin ... -2011.aspx
