Re: Rift, due 2011
Looks like they settled out of court with Paladium Books over Paladium's copyright claims. Wonder how much that cost em?

I plan to play Rift, but will probably give it a few months to work out the kinks. Heh, or I'll just give in to temptation

I honestly haven't heard anything compelling about this game that would make me want to play it. It sounds like a WoW clone.

Re: Rift, due 03/01/2011
At this point that may be the attraction, given WoW has gone back to 'Vanilla' mode in its degree of difficulty (though still super easy, don't understand why people are complaining). Its by no means going to be a WoW killer, though. WoW is going to take care of that on its own.

The only reason people think WoW is hard is because of the Dungeon Finder tool. If it only picked from your server people not on your ignore list to make sure you did not get grouped with them it would be an awesome tool. Right now it creates crappy groups and no way to make sure you don't group with idiots.

Re: Rift, due 03/01/2011
I completely agree with that. Dungeon Finder would've been an utter failure in Vanilla and to some extent BC as well.

Ahzag and I are planning to give it a try. Any other old school Brell peeps? No clue what server - just excited about being a bard again!

Sticking with WoW for the foreseeable future Lis. I doubt there would be enough raid content in Rift for me to get all too excited. Good to see you and Ahz still playing though. You should stop by the Bane board and say hey.

Excuse the new look, Sithal (aka Rykilth) just decided to update the board.

I gave it a try the last beta and really liked the bard feel again. We are going to give it a go tho not sure what server yet.
Great to hear from you Kula - hope all is well in your world!

I gave the rogue class a try and was kinda perturbed with the whole fact that the combat mechanics were identical to a WoW rogue...

Re: Rift, due 03/01/2011
So far I'm having fun with Rift. We're going to play on the server that sounds like 'Brell'. It's 'Byreil' or something like that.
It's not a ground breaking game. I've been reading the forums and it seems like lots of people are disappointed about that. I for one am happy to have just a basic MMO where they did it right and put out a stable product at launch. Funny how our standards have lowered but "it is what it is" I guess. As somebody who designs software for a living, I really appreciate well designed and built software, and Rift delivers on that. The team that built it really know their shit and it totally shows.
So it's a basic MMO with modern graphics and some nice little unique touches like the rift system. Most games only seem to get better from launch. If that's the case with Rift then it looks like a winner.

Re: Rift, due 03/01/2011
Rift is pretty sweet so far. I've heard it called "WOW with tentacles that come from the sky" but it's either something you like or don't, and we like it.
