That quote is actually pretty interesting. First of all the scientific community at the time mostly thought Eugenics was an awesome idea. The US was easily as strong in scientific research into the matter (though they did stop short of murdering all their Jews) and the whole thing only came to a screaming halt when the holocaust was investigated, at which point no one really meant THAT sort of thing to happen. Next, the whole "enemy" thing is a hallmark of neocon and authoritarian politics. It's the method of setting up an enemy (typically "liberals") and treat the whole thing as an "us vs them" war in which there is no quarter given. It works well for pushing a point because there's an awfully large group of people that need to feel like they are the "good guys" fighting against the "bad guys".

Meh, I could go on, but for Beck to say that of Gore is really quite amusing.

I know why he did it Fall, because he's a grandstanding, self-promoting nutjob. If he could have gotten away with it, he would have done it a school, he's that crazy. But not crazy enough to get himself arrested.
