Many of you have probably heard about the new Republican initiative to put up a webpage, which allows people to post their thoughts about certain elements of govenrmental direction. I must tell you I was very surprised.

Don't focus too much on the topics, which are obviously Republican topics, but rather on the responses to the topics. More specifically, the votes.
Understandably, people may be rigging the system (sometimes there are more votes than registrants), but what I see in the votes is what I truely understand to be the mindset of Americans, both left and right. We spend too much, we're divided on abortion, get over the gay thing, legalize MJ, provide basic safety nets for disadvantaged Americans (but don't institutionalize the safety nets), we all distrust our leaders, and we think we need to pull back our extensions in the world and become more self-reliant.
Sounds like except for the extreme socialist left and the extreme social conservative right, most Americans are of the libertarian bent. Less government, less spending, less international exposure, more individual rights, more states rights.
Anyone disagree?

Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Re: America Speaking Out
I wouldn't disagree, but that feeling holds for generalities. When you start getting into the specifics, people tend to get very upset when the government spending and oversight reductions happen to them - they'd much prefer all the ones that don't affect them are the bits that should be reduced.
