Not even for a second should you disregard this film as another “Twilight” clone. This is not a film directed towards a young, female audience. This is an intense ride that goes straight for the jugular and doesn’t stop until it hits spine. There’s a tiny bit of vampire on human romance in this one, but for the most part, you’re getting blood, gore and one hell of a story.
You should never be bored while watching “Daybreakers,” but this is a film that has a calm before the storm. There’s snippets of violence here and there throughout with the ending spiraling into a wondrous parade of body parts. The reason for this violence won’t be spoiled, but rest assured that throats are ripped out, heads are torn off, bodies are burned and there’s even a bit of self mutilation for good measure. “Daybreakers” is a fantastic vampire film for adult audiences and is destined to amass a huge following. The subject matter is treated seriously and the acting is excellent. Not only for the horror genre, but in general.
