So, I just finished the game (sans x-pack) and I can't help but be disappointed. The whole thing with Morigan was lame. The way all of the companions just virtually disappeared was weak. I just can't find anything about the ending I enjoyed. It all seemed really lack-luster.

One thing troubled me more than anything about this game: It lacked variance. Whether you're recruiting dwarves, Elves, or saving Magi, you always had more-or-less the same challenges. There wasn't much side-questing aside from your typical 'go here, kill this, return with this' type crap. I think this game would've been a lot better had they fleshed out a world you could travel around in, more like Oblivion.

Dunno. Overall, I feel like this was an 'okay' game, but isn't deserving of the success it has had. I'm torn on even getting the expansion, now.
There are several different endings. Morrigan does disappear regardless of choice, but Alistair is gone in my main save and dead in my second one, so Enora remained queen anyways. Loghain sucks but he's not nearly as whiny as Alistair was. They all disappear, but that's what you should expect.. they help you, then they go back to their lives. What sucks is if you side with the werewolves, they eventually die out anyways so it's completely worthless as a choice. :( You really should play through it again and make different choices to see what happens. That's why it gets the success it has.

There's a lot of hidden side-quests in the original too that I missed (but my wife found cause she's insane like that) which flesh out each of the companion's story lines a lot. You're right that it's not as varied as Oblivion (which isn't as varied as Morrowind), but overall it's at least as good as Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate were.

The xpac seems to be basically wandering around the world recruiting random criminals to the wardens and then deciding which peasant town is worth saving? The new mage is pretty awesome though in terms of attitude.

Most of the sidequests are well worth the time, too. Morrigan gets a good robe from hers, leliana gets a good bow, and wynn gets a ring that beefs the shit out of her special.

I finally got all the achievements by using the elfroot EXP exploit on a mage and warrior. Felt kind of lame but there was no shitting way I was playing through a mage four times.

How did you guys feel about the DLC? I really liked ostagar but soldiers peak was retarded. i'll be playing the expansion tonight.

Why would you play through a mage 4 times? I played through twice, first as rogue, then as mage.

For the achievements.

1 for putting a full 16 points into each of the four mage skill trees. If you can make it to 25 then you can get all four done in two runs, but the highest I was able to do without the elfroot gimmick was 22 I think.

I have all of the achievements, and playing through as a mage 4 times won't get you a level 20 warrior/rogue. :p

Mage is fairly shitty unless you do Primal anyway. Blood Mage was relatively useless.

I thought Blood Mage was pretty awesome. The Blood Wound AE kicked ass.

It was decent, but with Oghren and Loghain both as Reavers with Aura of Pain on, and set to defensive.. my mage would cast Blizzard, then Tempest, and I'd watch everything in the room die.

Playing the expansion right now... holy shit, Shadow is awesome. Flicker = AE Teleport and Backstab each enemy in the area. Fucking win.

The expansion is retardedly easy. By the end of my first playthrough I was doing 300dmg backstabs. Combine that with endless flurry and the invincibility talents and my rogue was soloing bosses.

The kitty also removes any and all need for strategy. I beat the marsh dragon by just spamming the kitty effect - up, slash, slash, dead, up.
Mage is fairly shitty unless you do Primal anyway. Blood Mage was relatively useless.
Blood mage and spirit healer were the only specs worth getting. Primal was redundant, I thought spirit was the best mage tree by far, even if you try not to use the taunt/FF combo.
I have all of the achievements, and playing through as a mage 4 times won't get you a level 20 warrior/rogue.
And playing a rogue 4 times won't get you the mage achievements. Whats your point?

Finished DA:O up to 100% again. The last boss fight is seriously disappointing. The expansion is pretty good but seems to lose steam about midway through and just kind of flutters out. Was a shame, considering the price tag. :/

Oh well, still a fantastic game by all accounts.

New DLC wasn't too bad. Was fun to play as Darkspawn and getting to kill the heroes in battle was good times.

I gotta get back onto this. Just finished God of War 1 & 2 on the PS3 (yeah, I suck and never finished them on PS2). Damn, Kratos has... issues.

Heh, I still need to replay them on PS3 for trophies.

And... lol... wait til you play 3. (Though, 3 is by far the best in the series, even though the story gets kind of retarded because of how they've fucked up the mythology.)

I doubt you'll have any serious issue getting Platinum trophies for both. They're all pretty standard fare.

No, I know I won't. God of War III requires you beat it on Hard.. the others don't care what difficulty you play it on. Can probably run though GoW 1 on easy in like 5 hours. I beat it back when it first came out in 7 on Normal.

Yeah - that's one of the trophies. Beat the game on any level in 5hrs.

Just finished the Leilana's Song DLC. Fairly interesting, but not sure that it was worth 6.99. You do get a nice tunic for use in normal/awakenings though.
