The Crazies

Post by Harlowe »

True story - I had the choice between Alice in Wonderland and this movie, I chose this one. I thought it was pretty decent for a horror movie (it helps that I love Timothy Olyphant too).

I just haven't drummed up had the desire to see Alice in Wonderland for some reason.

If you do see Alice, I suggest 3D. Its much more enjoyable in 3D than standard.

I want to see this but will probably end up waiting until it releases for video. I'm right there with you about not having desire to see Alice, however I'm going with some friends tonight (in 3D) because no one else wanted to see The Crazies. lol

Why is it better in 3D, Fallakin? Please don't list any gimmicks.

I've hated stereoscopic because it's so gimmicky and hearing an audience go "UHHHHURRRRRWOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHHHH" at every gimmick really takes me out of the experience.

Because you get a real feel for Tim Burton's imagining for Wonderland, a feel you don't get in the standard version of the film.

That's a bit vague. Can you be more specific?

Burton's wonderland seem'd a bit flat. I thought it was impossible to dream up a boring Wonderland.

Speilberg's Neverland > Burton's Wonderland IMO. In every way possible.

Sucks that this is turning into a thread about Alice, but I totally agree with Garr here. I saw it last night and left thinking "... well that kinda sucked." The graphics were cool, not much "gimmicky" 3D stuff, but it seemed like they took out all the mystery of wonderland. It was more of a generic disney movie of good vs bad.

It was meant to be vague. That said, I felt the standard version was "meh, just another movie" whereas the 3D version of the movie actually felt like it had some depth and feeling in the world of Wonderland.

I saw the standard version first, and I wasn't particularly impressed with the movie at all. I was much more impressed with the 3D version, but the movie was still no Shutter Island.

That's crazy to me that you've paid to see Alice twice already, but I guess we must just have very different movie tastes.

Shutter Island was good but nothing special, I don't see myself even downloading it in the future to watch again. I was laughing at the trailer I saw yesterday "SHUTTER ISLAND IS INSANE THE TWIST WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!!!" it wasn't even that surprising (the twist).

Saw the standard version with friends, saw the 3D version with the wife. I only went with our friends to see it cause we hadn't hung out in a while.

Hahahaha. That's Ben from Lost. He's evil. And that's what makes him sexy.

Are you evil, Garrdor? Be evil for me. Oh yes.

I might go see it this weekend. I thought the trailer was cool, and using Mad World as the background music was brilliant. Not to mention I am a Tim O fan too. Oddly enough I also agree with you on the Wonderland thing. So hyped & yet I just don't have any pull to go see it. I am afraid that if I don't go see it in 3D that I'll have missed out on something, but still... meh. Maybe if I get bored.
