So I got a PS3...
Any suggestions on "must have" games?
(Main reason I got it was FFXIII, but given the DRM on AC2 for the PC I went with the PS3 version instead).
Oh, and I got the PS3 over the X360 because I figured FF would be better with the PS3 version.

Re: So I got a PS3...
Well you made a good call for FF since the textures are more detailed on the PS3 version, and the true 1080p.
My list of 'must haves' is...
Demons Souls - If your desire for extreme challenge ala EQ is still alive, then this is the game to get.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - It's a good story, even more so if you played all of the MGS games, including Nintendo. However, the most important one to have played is the first one on the original Playstation.
Heavenly Sword - The action is just ok, you can honestly mash your way through 95% of the fights outside of Kai. It's the visuals and story that make it an epic adventure. Plus you need to be able to laugh with the rest of us over Kai's monkey peaches.
Resistance: Fall of Man 1 & 2 - Gears of War first person with a more intricate story.
The recent God of War 1 & 2 remaster if you haven't played them on PS2 so you can be ready for the 3rd.

Good call. Gaystation > Fagbox. God of War 3 comes out Tuesday. MGS4, GTA4, Gran Turismo 4 (5 released later this year), Bioshock 2 (although better on PC), Madden (naturally), Uncharted 2, inFamous and Fifa 10. I have heard good things about the latest Batman game as well.

That's one I forgot, Uncharted 2 was widely recognized as the game of the decade. I haven't had much free time for games, but it's high on my list.

Shit, knew I forgot something. Heavy Rain is pretty sweet. Also Trine is good. I bought it off steam for like 2.99 the other week.

Re: So I got a PS3...
Are they ever going to go through with the rumors and remake FF7 or make a second part to the story for PS3? It's pretty stupid of them not to. Out of the people I talk to on a regular basis, all but 3 or 4 who don't have a PS3 already would have gone out and bought one when they were still like $600-$700 solely for the purpose of playing the new FF7 had one been made.
I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my ass.

Re: So I got a PS3...
I don't think Square is going to remake anything. The only sequel they ever really did was X-2, which didn't really turn out so well. Tying in some sort of FF7 remake/sequel with all the other stuff that's come around with it would be... tough.

When I was playing through the first part of FFXIII I was like "WTF is this, a FF7 remake?!"

FF X-2 was fun. It's campy as shit, but it's a lot of fun later in the game. Via Infinito was a blast.Ddrak wrote:I don't think Square is going to remake anything. I've played all of these and would recommend them too. If you have someone to play co-op with, definitely get Resistance 1 and 2 (although I'd say Gears of War 1 and 2 are a lot better).Falundir X`Viento wrote:Demons Souls - If your desire for extreme challenge ala EQ is still alive, then this is the game to get.

The God of War remaster is pretty cool, I almost bought a gayfagcocksuckerstation just for these games. They updated the in-game graphics quite a bit so it doesn't look like you are playing a game from years ago. It's funny how the cut-scenes are actually worse quality now than the in-game graphics.

Re: So I got a PS3...
Resistance 1 and 2 are light years better than Gears of War, imo.
I'd also recommend Killzone 2 as far as shooters go. LittleBigPlanet is alright, but you'll likely do what I did after about 35 minutes and decide it's a bit too kiddy and boring for your tastes.. though if you like designing your own levels, you might dig it. Heavenly Sword is kind of meh imo, dunno that I'd call it a must have.
I dunno, Dd. I'm not really sure what you're into other than RPG's, and to be fair, the PS3 doesn't really have a butt ton of decent RPG's out for it. Though, I can recommend Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom but it doesn't support Trophies (if you're an achievement whore like I am)

Dd, from experience (I only have access to a PS3 when I visit home), I say God of War and Little Big Planet. LBP must be played with at least two other people! Then it's hilarity all around and very entertaining.
Playing with my sister and 9-year-old constantly-messing-up brother had us all in tears from laughing so hard.

Really just wanted to hear what other people though was good for them, without prejudicing them on what I like/don't like (my wife is reading the thread too, so she's looking up stuff that interests her).xilly wrote:I dunno, Dd. Been good so far. Thanks all!

Valkryia Chronicles. <spooge>
The Sega collection was worthwhile for a bunch of old Genesis games. The inFamous control system pissed me off enormously. Third installation of Disgaea seemed solid when I was tooling around with it a little. To be honest, I haven't had a lot of chance to play my PS3, it's been turned into the Netflix Machine.

inFamous is good if you liked Prototype, Crackdown, or any of the other run around the city and do shit super-hero style games. Valkryia Chronicles is on my list of stuff to get eventually, as is White Knight Chronicles and M.A.G.Arathena wrote:Valkryia Chronicles. <spooge>

I still recommend Uncharted 1 and 2 though. They're (as far as I've seen thus far) the two best games out for the PS3. Platforming, Shooting, Treasure Hunting, Drama, Surprises, and some retardedly hilarious writing. From Uncharted 2: "Sully: I'm sweating like a hooker in church. Drake: You took a hooker to church?!" Lots of genuine LOL's.

It's good, but I had played Prototype before it so I was used to those controls already. The only thing that's kind of wacky about it is that the electric charges are both your weapons and your health, which takes some getting used to.Arathena wrote:I have no idea if inFamous was good or bad. Re: So I got a PS3...
I prefer playing co-op console games so Little Big Planet was pretty fun when I played it with some friends (4 of us total). It's really creative and sometimes the puzzles are hard enough to make it challenging.
I played Uncharted 2 for an hour or so (never played the first one) and was bored as fuck, a friend of mine loves it though.
As for great co-op games, I really enjoyed playing through Resident Evil 5 too.
Army of Two kinda sucked ass IMO.
