And again......neither of those would have stopped my first post based off yours in which you made no specific comment on WHY your "friend" found the movie misogynistic which engendered me to post. Is this really that hard for you to follow?Select wrote:Apparently the above 'why' wasn't enough for you.The misogynistic claims are made more about the portrayal of the relationship between the girl and guy. The vampire aspects aren't the biggest misogynistic part. I'm not really sure what you're trying to say there with the feigned surprise. And this second one was? o_OYeah, which is why I'm 'wtf' at you. The relationship in the book can be transported to other genres and it would still be misogynistic. It's the relationship itself, not the vampire thing.

I'm a little more than surprised to read this as I don't know anyone IRL (or online for that matter) that's actually into Twilight. I guess marketing to young females is big biz though, damn.Fallakin Kuvari wrote:It's grossed $140,700,000 over 3 days.

You paid to see this movie? If you were a guy I'd punch you in the dick. I guess you get a pass being a girl & all, but you're still too smart to have done that. Maybe you do deserve a jab to the poon.

Re: New Moon
I'll literally see anything with vampires, werewolves or chicks that kick ass in it. I mean, I saw Bloodrayne for crissakes, and I loved Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (which my SO calls Crouching Boredom, Hidden Plotline). What can I say, my standards are incredibly low for any of those three subject matters.

Re: New Moon
I haven't read the series but BIG SURPRISE my almost 13 year old got Twilight the book and is begging for the next couple. I saw Twilight, and thought it was ok, but i like to preview certain movies before allowing my kids to see them. I wont be paying to see this movie until it comes out on DVD, but most of the reviews i have read that were written but women in their late 20's or early 30's were that it was fantastic. I should have realized the opinion here would be a total 180, but i guess i was hoping for something in the middle. Thanks Harlowe, thats about as middle ground as I'm going to get i guess lol

I hate to admit it, but I agree. Harlowe. WTF? I think you need an intervention. Vampires are not sparklie.Minute wrote:You paid to see this movie? If you were a guy I'd punch you in the dick. Though, I think it's ok to give you a weak/wuss pass this time because you mentioned that werewolves were cool, which they are generally speaking.
So, yeah.

Ariannda, Twilight was just a bad movie. New Moon made 2girls1cup look like Casablanca. Gurgh.
It does have a lot of half-naked muscle bound guys, though.

Re: New Moon
I saw it. Waste of time, it sucked ass. Except the cgi werewolves. Oh, and the head guy of the volturi was good. Other than that.. it was a steaming pile of nasty.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Re: New Moon
I took one look at the first movie poster and knew instantaneously that it would be a sucktacular crapfest. To get me to watch it you'd have to strap me down A Clockwork Orange style in front of the screen with my eyelids pried open.
If presented with the choice between that and having open-heart surgery without anesthesia, it would actually take me a moment to decide.
