More seriously, the insane hubris of this really staggers the mind. These right-wing ideologues know better than the early church councils that canonized Scripture? They really think it's wise to force the word of God to conform to a 21st-century American idea of what constitutes conservatism? These jokers don't worship God. They worship ideology.
Right wing dementia marches on apace. Some of this has a grain of sense to it, as ideological madness always does. For instance, the dumb attempts to feminize Scripture are pernicious and need to stop. But seriously: the story of the woman taken in adultery is "liberal"? Free market as Sacred tradition? Liberal wordiness?
I personally don't see the problem. This isn't the first time the Bible's been changed. This won't be the last time the Bible will be changed. And the knuckle draggers who change it are only going to marginalize themselves more. Making it less accessible to young people is gonna work real well for them.
Well, it’s the Super-Monroe Doctrine: “Get off our oil, people who dress funny!” - M. Bouffant
"You're a bad captain, Zarde. People like you only learn by being touched, and hard. And you will greatly disapprove of where these men put their hands." - M. Vanderbeam.
It's happened before, where different interpretation of scripture (along with copious amounts of political intrigue) have resulted in a "unique" view of the Bible (and pick your version there, too). The Greeks ((Eastern Orthodox), the French (Google antipopes), the Protestants.. Luther anyone? Nothing really new here, just another interpretation by another segment. Maybe that interpretation will gain "market share." Hell, that's how the Catholics started.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.
Though, thankfully in this day and age the changes will be heavily recorded by opposition. So if any moron does try to claim this new version is the word and truth of god, then it's a little easier to call them out.

Mostly, it's just hilarious to watch the people who talk about the inerrant word of god talk about the errors in it.
